I had the same "communication error" problem with both my PC and my laptop, I reinstalled PC Suite but it didn't solve anything.
Then I made a backup of my phone, and after a master reset it worked fine.

I have already tried three different laptops with WinXP but nothing. I tried the master reset also, also nothing.Still showing "error communicating....".

Is there anybody else that has upgraded from version 162005/6?

@GeorgeX

The firmware upgrade worked for me first time (XP Pro, PC Suite 3, SP2, McAfee Virus, corporate firewall). The reason I think it worked was that I was at work and we have a very high speed broad band connection.

You're kidding right? The only reason PCs seem to have the same revisions, is that those are the only ones most people get to download.

But PCs have different firmwares as well... the only ones you HEAR about are like WinXP SP1, or SP2... but between those 2 are hundreds of different versions as well... Windows XP doesn't just come in one build version. There's like a whole serial number (hidden from most users) that follows that.

The reason the phones came out with different FW to begin with is the schedule of their release... initial batch will have a semi-prototype FW installed... as deals are made, bugs discovered, or regional agreements are finalized... FW will be changed... there is different FW for 3 different versions of the phone... Global, America, and China. Each version has something different... the US version may need a different set of preinstalled apps... depending on license agreements... Chinese version has the Chinese menu and all.

Eh? what are you talking about Windows is NOT a frimware revision! I am talking about a piece of hardware on a PC that would have a single revision (EG the BIOS on all Mainboards by one manufacturer and model number) and while I can see the logic in different language version phones having different firmwares it seems crazy to have different firmware revisions for the same phone in the UK but dependent on the Contractor!

Does anybody know which version of the firmware 162005/x? contains the English and Greek languages?

Thank you.

@all

One option you can try if are having comms problems is to use the latest USB Serial driver from the SE Support site. I suggest as I am using a standard XP machine with USB 2 connections, similar to many people who are having problems with FW upgrades.

I just posted this on the my-symbian forums, not sure if it will help, it fixed mine

I think it is down to the fact that SE install java 1.3.1 with the updater, this stopped my 1.4.2 java working.
I uninstalled the 1.3.1 java and it now works!
When i tried using java from the command prompt before uninstalling 1.3.1 it was complaining about versions, think it had got confused as there was 2 versions.

Did these steps incase it made a difference...
- Connected P910 directly to the PC (took out of the USB hub)
- Took out battery
- reinstalled battery and put in docking station
- ran the online update

VXLess

I thought your upgrade was through CPW rather than via the SE online upgrade service.
