Thanks. Is it better to get a 18 or 21 sp bike? This message was posted from a T610

I had a ritchey 2x10 set up on my Spesh. Only 20 ratios, but all usable. Sadly it word out and I went with Shim 24 speed. Now I've got 27 speed, and spare bits are easy to get.
So I guess out of 18 or 21, get the one which still has spare parts available, since both will be equally usable.

But will the latter provide more speed and less effort? And that about maintenance? This message was posted from a T610

All depends on what upper and lower gear ratios are available. Often they'll be very similar, but a 7 speed cassette will have more ratios between.

21 every time.

pos 24 if you can?

i dont know how it works out in india but ive got 3 chainrings up front and 9 out back so, 27 in total. if you can id do 3x8 giving you 24 speeds.

the chain on 27 speed is noticably thinner and ive a habit of snapping em!!
