Hi everyone

I pushed back at SE about their "templated" response, and the fact it hadnt answered my question. Also mentioned that i was considering getting a refund on my phone and would recommend others do the same given the poor video (and photo) quality having upgrade. Also mentioned the update service not mentioning when the firmware had last been changed and to what version as well as giving us information on changes.

Well i got a reponse included below, which seems a little more personalised this time. Unfortunately its not looking good for getting the problems fixed, just a game of wait and see im afraid. But we probably already knew that.

Tony

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Centre.

With regards to your enquiry, unfortunately in our intial reply we made the mistake of not noticing you had the latest firmware already. We are sorry for this error.
There is not another update to be released imminently but there will be future updates for the K750i although it has not been confirmed what will be included in these yet and when they will be released.
R1A044 was the first version of the K750i software and there is now an update available to R1L002 which is the first maintenance release of software. In this new software among the updates are:

- Standby crash fixed.
- Increased call and Media Player volume.
- Games menu operates much more smoothly.
- Smoother video playback
- General UI performance improvements
- Improvements and bug fixes to Bluetooth headset support.
- The auto focus beep sound has been changed.
- Saving a photo to the Memory Stick is now quicker.
- New MP3 folder on Memory stick
- Fixed the month names in the calendar for various european languages.
- Camera sounds are muted when in silent mode in some firmware locales (EU_1 , but not EU_3).
- Minimised Media Player icon changed.
- SMS 'to' text now black (previously white).
- A "Fully Charged" message is now displayed on screen when the phone has finished charging.

There are no changes to the Bluetooth profiles supported.
If you are having problems with connectivity to a bluetooth headset this is most likely due to compatibility issues with non-Sony Ericsson products or a fault with one of the devices.
Also, the camera quality has not been reduced by the software update but we have had some reports of a reduction in video quality on some handsets which we are of course looking into. If this proves to be due to the software update the problem will be rectified in the next maintenance release of software.
We appreciate your suggestions for changes to the update service and we will log these with the appropriate department.

In summary, we are sorry for the problems you have had and hope that this email goes some way to resolving them. If you have any other enquiries or problems please contact us on 08705 237 237 or by email so that we can offer support and new information.

@AntonyScerri, thanks for that info. I've just updated to R1L from the R1J that was on the phone when I bought it. The listed improvements seem accurate, and worthwhile.

It's a huge shame about the video quality, but for me the sound output improvement is more important than the video quality, so I'm not too disappointed to have missed R1A.

When I first got the K750, I was disappointed as the sound output didn't seem too much better than my K700i...but now I can hammer my eardrums yet again...

Hopefully the vid quality will be reinstated soon..

@Paulino2, dude, if some girl opens her wonderbra for me, I'm never disappointed!!

Hi

How does the new firmware change the quality of the sound?

Through the headphones?
Speaker?
Ringtones?

Call and media player. Not the quality, just the output. Louder.

I think updated R1L is what he means. My K750 hasn't crashed on R1L (five days) yet crashed twice on R1J in the 8 hours I had R1J. Time will tell though....

Why can I not upgrade to R1L with a Orange locked K750i. I went from R1A to R1J but it said this was the latest version, yet my sim free one has R1L on it.
