Hi
Just read this thread and have decided to try an cancel my contract (I have had it for less than 14 days) and see if O2 retentions dept. will offer me a better deal.
Currently I have the Online 200 deal, with upgraded calls. 300 X-net and 50 texts for £30. I used to be on 3 so I know how good there deals are (network was rubbish though), so i'm going to try and haggle for something similar.

Lol. Just tried it rang up the standard O2 customer service number. Explained that I had had my phone for less than 14 days and wanted to cancel my contract. The guy didn't ask me why and just said return the phone to the address printed on the jiffy bag that came with the phone.
Oh well, that plan failed myserably. I'll give it another go later on today, maybe I just got a rubbish customer service agent.

Hmmm... recently got a letter about a free upgrade so I'll have to call O2 and see if I can get an good deal with 500 x-network mins. m8cky, was that contract anytime x-network or offpeak only and is it a 6 month doubled to 500 mins type contract or 12 months at 500 mins?

@mojo,
It's 500 x-net work anytime and the contract is 12 month and there is no sort of redemption involved as O2 currently don't do retention.

Hey guys, I'm hoping you lot can give me some advice regarding O2 Online.
I got an O2 Online Contract September last year - K700i with 200 xnetwork anytime minutes and 500 texts at £36.10 a month including O2 Gold Insurance. I'm absolutely desperate for an upgrade to the K750i - my K700i is absolutely nackered and I've had it so long now I just hate it! I just don't want to ring them up and get a rediculous deal where I pay a huge sum just to upgrade the handset, and miss out on potentially more free minutes and/or texts - I'm a soft touch you see and I'd probably just say yes to whatever deal they throw at me...
The reason I'm posting here is because I've read through the above thread and you guys seem to be getting fantastic deals by being... Pushy?! It sounds like if you are confident in your cause they seem to give you what you want... Could you guys give me some advise on what I could reasonably be saying to them when I call them?
Any help muchos appreciated

I'm on a o2 off peak 300 and ends this months so i phoned them up yesterday. At first i rung up the upgrade line saying i wanted a k750 they told me it's going to set you back £79.99!! (Though for new contract its only £29.99)..but can give you half price line rental if you want for 10 months but no offer on a phone (offer only for only today...(swear she was just bluffing!)) So I went and enquired over at their customer service and they told me to phone cancellation line and tell them the situation (told me some bugs in the system)..so I did (luckily it doesn cost me anything phoning customer care at weekends!). The lady at cancellation said why you wanna cancel so I just told her about the situation, and without thinking she said oh yea thats fine, I'll give you the phone for £29.99 and 12 months half price line rental! Shame I have to wait another 2 weeks and phone back cos they are currently out of stock at the moment >.
O2 are one of the best operators in my opinion.

I rang about half a month ago, and got a K750i (had to pay £29.99 for it) with 750 xnet anytime mins, 500 txts for £15 a month. I dunno why they gave me 750 mins, cos they said they'd only give me 500 ... but whatever.
GMF I stuck to an imaginary deal from '3' of 500 xnet mins 500 txts and an e1000 for free, £15 a month. Rang the 0800 number given here, asked for my PAC code cos I was leaving.. the bloke asked me why, I told him of this deal. He tried to talk me round saying '3' were crap and all that. Eventually he said okay then i'll transfer you to the right place. He transfered me to a woman who did exactly the same as the bloke did, then transfered me to another woman, who, again asked me about the deal '3' were giving me. She offered me a price match to stay, and asked me what phone I wanted etc... and it was done, now i'm happy.
If you get a good deal, ring back a week later, just to make sure they have actually changed it.

I'm on an 02 200 tarrif which i'm told can be upgraded on 30th Aug, so not long to go and hence im looking through this really useful thread to keep an eye on what people are being offered. I however am with Carphone Warehouse re 02 billing. Does this mean I have to go through them (guess it does) - and has anyone else managed to get a better deal through them?
Thanks!
Michelle
