have been an SE fan ever since my first phone died-motorola lol, i was 15 then and i never looked back!
i admit i have been somewhat disappointed with SE this last year but still managed to find something to suit my needs-w980.
in 2009 there is enough choice out there for even the most discerning tastes to be satisfied so if hikaru doesnt tickle your fancy no worry just move along to something else.
hikaru is what i want in a phone this year, good camera (hopefully) good music (if it is at least as good as my w980 i wont complain) and wifi
i think innovation has to go beyond just whose spec sheet is longer, software is what must be now developed. i doubt mmost of the nay-sayers have played around with it to legitimately denounce it. the reason i have stuck with SE is that the walkman software is plain good and better than just about anything out there- please no one mention apple.
looking forward to seeing walkman v.4 and hope it brings some things that lacked in v.3 e.g the sleep timer for music in w905/w960 plus the ease of playlist creation in those

I'm not. I want a SMALL touch screen device, one with a 3 inch or 2.8 inch screen or one like the X1. Not the iPhone or the HTC HD, they are nice but too big and the HD is just ridiculous.
Ad for the new Samsung, again FAR too big, and the new Toshiba, well they are living on another planet.
These are MOBILE phones, not mini laptop's, not multimedia computers, phones. As such they should be small not with a crazy pointless 4 inch screen!
What's the point in a thin device when it feels like a slate in your pocket? I think I am in the majority as I don't know anyone who wants 'bigger' screens.

I love SE and I'll continue to buy its products, but only because I am a fan for a long time, if SE continue this strategy SURELY not attract new audiences.
when it was announced the very awaited Shiho, rumored like beast flagship,I was very very disappointed! because I expected better but all the ways I have bought and I repurchase it 1000times because it is beautiful and I am super satisfied, but if they give me performance equal to the other brand like jack or VGA I would have been much more happy

A lot of you guys are wrong. Hikaru is very nice in the flesh, it looks and feels like a premium device. The flash is nice and bright. The photoshop isn't 100% correct. It's not meant to be a smartphone or anything like that, it is what it is and it does it very well.
Santa's right about the 'X1 successor' not being the correct term to use. X1 hasn't been out for too long so its not smart to bring out a replacement/competitor so soon, expect that at the end of the year. This Xperia is not supposed to be like the X1.
Every single company has made an iPhone style phone except for
so maybe its time has come..........the W960 hasn't had an update in a while. Maybe the new Xperia will be this?

Methinks, it's about time SE released a s60 touchscreen, with a200 icons and look user interface. Especially since it's a natural first step to SF os. If Samsung can do it then Se can do it too (but with a 6 month release wait).

Sony Ericsson isn't a company that has to cater your needs... no let me rephrase that... wants. I can't see how on earth people can start complaining about a design judging on a computer photoshop of the phone not from Sony Ericsson themselves. If people are disappointed, they deserve it because they disappointed themselves. Everyone's always whacko when someone reveals a little bit about a phone here... it's crazy. Then things start escalating to a point where true information is not shared around properly... People here only listen to what they want to hear. Once the product is revealed, they only moan and cry.
I'm only quoting you btw, because you are the last person that did this. Let me be clear I'm not only talking to you, but to everyone here.
