^ lol

Well, youtube sharing still works but its a matter of time. Microsoft are in charge of everything, but this particular problem might be due to API changes on the other end of those services.. what's strange is that they all stopped working and they are different companies so I doubt they all changed their APIs at the same time. I dunno.. maybe Microsoft pulled them

I wonder if they will have the courage to pull Nokia Maps because the phones were advertised with "free navigation for life" or something like this.. once they do that, they will force a lot of people to switch to.. something.

The sad part is that all of those services, including Skype, work just fine and there is no logical reason to stop them. The Skype team said Symbian was not built for a cloud world .. wtf does that mean ?

I feel like if they could prevent the 808 from making phone calls they will find a reason to get rid of that too.

by the way auto upload to OneDrive still works, but I am sure they are looking into that too.

The forced me to look elsewhere, I'm undecided between the Xperia Z2, a Z1 Compact or an iPhone 5S.

I am waiting to see what kind of lens they have on the iPhone 6.. if its the same square thing, I will pass, but if its as wide as the 808/1020 I will probably go for it.

The last two iPhone generation there was always a Nokia counter device..

iPhone 4 - Nokia N8
iPhone 5 - Nokia 808
iPhone 6 - ????????

The Microsoft merger didn't help the timing.

Maybe I will until Microsoft decide on the new camera flagships.. there is no way that will let all that R&D they got go to waste, but that means waiting for another 6 months or so..

I lost all my photos that were uploaded from the 808 to facebook. Apparently, by they breaking the API, they kinda messed up everybody's album called "Nokia 808 Pureview" and was removed along with whatever change they have done.

Man, all my travel photos, cool stuff, etc etc... all of them lost.

Thanks Elop! Thanks Microsoft! and Thanks Obama!!!!

^ that sucks man.. I really don't understand what they did here, it makes no sense. I get the API change, but why delete the pics on facebook ? They don't want any traces of the 808 on facebook ? lol

Anyway, I use the skydrive app which auto uploads to my camera roll, and then on my desktop I have set the folder as "available offline" so that it keeps a copy of the files on my local hard drive as well, that way I have one in the "cloud" and one locally.. hoping that that's enough to keep them safe in case Microsoft decide to delete all 808 photos from onedrive as well

If you really look at what happened between Nokia and Microsoft over the years you will find that Symbian caused significant problems for Microsoft from the very beginning. If it wasn't for Symbian, Nokia would've gone with Windows CE (windows mobile) and Microsoft would be in a much, much better position in the mobile business today.. Instead they are still lingering at 3% market share.

My take is that there is still resentment after all these years. The irony is that after all that, Microsoft still got what they wanted more than 15 years ago.. Nokia as their OEM

To be honest I kind feel bad for Microsoft in a way. They had all the right ideas way before Google even existed, but there was always something stopping them from delivering properly. They had the tablet idea, they had a smartphone OS... If you go back far enough you will see that they even had a Unix distro which was one of the best ones at the time, and ironically Linux came from it eventually

They've done a lot of cool stuff. I know the general sentiment toward the company is negative, but they did put a computer on every desk after all... if you look at the overall picture they are a very important part of the way the world works today.

Nokia wanted to put a computer in every pocket, and they almost had it... if it wasn't for Apple's iPhone I think there was going to be enough time for them to react.

I am glad that they got the 808 out of the door on time.. its a milestone in mobile photography and it pushed the boundaries to the very limit. We really don't get that type of engineering any more.
