For the love of god, stop posting that render!! Every time I see it I have to come to terms with the fact that it's not the real thing. Once again, awesome job on that one Sponse - now go get a job in Sony design and make that real.

Probably something to do with ZU but its a very strange way to do it. The invite hints a big surprise which a re-announcement surely is. But c'mon, if thats the case they should have sent out the invite after the announcement clearly stating its a ZU event.

It just doesn't add up. Why announce something twice and what version of the ZU could it possible be? Isn't the LTE modem already universally compatible with every network there is? It's not like they'll announce a N American version? Is it?

impressive bay trail score...
Madness!!

and at 1.1GHz! Wonder which OEMs will be using that CPU.
That's why I'm not convinced about its authenticity, unless it uses an Intel Bay trail processor.

Mysterious Android device with Intel's Bay Trail chip shatters AnTuTu benchmark records

Yep.
So when will we see a Bay Trail powered Xperia? And could Sony use Ubuntu touch on it, it should perform much better than android as will not use virtualisation?

Thank you I got your point. I thought Nokia was doing pixel binning, and was unaware of the loss of shapness, or "pureness", via pixel binning. So effectively what Nokia does is use a clever algorithm to reduce noise and you say Sony could do it as well. I would add that Sony starts from a different point: with the RX100 v2 tech, including BSI, they already use clever hardware to reduce noise and may not need to add a layer of software noise reduction.
Ya.. I don't really know what they are using, a knowledgeable person once said it was Lanczos.. but only they know.
And, yes.. Sony has a very different sensor/optics combo to play with, so I am sure that it will be better than the Nokia system in some regards, and worse in others. The 808 was all about zoom, the oversampling and noise reduction is secondary.
If Sony are going for pure IQ ... they can probably beat the 808 in certain conditions. The lens is extremely important.. we will have to wait and see how they manage that aspect.
Overall its newer technology. Technically the phase 1 pureview system is about 3 years old.. so its only natural for someone to catch up.
As far as oversampling and zooming during video.. considering that the mpix count is 1/2 of what we have on the 808, and they are using the most powerful SoC available.. yes, they should be able to do it.

I am wondering what improvement Nokio EOS brings to the 808. If it is marginal improvements then the Honami may simply beat it on sensitivity and noise.
I am comparing technically. In terms of sales, Nokia does not stand a chance because it runs microsoft windows for mobile phones, which should generate less sales than Honami, even if Sony is not present in the US and relies on Europe, Middle East and Asia only.
It's actually rumored to be slightly worse than P808 due to the fact that it's difficult to get the software part exactly as good with WP8 as compared to Symbian.
My own speculation is that the EOS won't be as good as the 808 in terms of IQ.. at least not with that initial firmware. Things will get better with time as they roll in more ports from the 808 in terms of software.
But I might be wrong.

esato always getting its hopes up (P5i anyone?) anyway dont expect a thing tomorrow outside of the ZU, that would be my advice.
Damn, I am still waiting Sony to release Paris, though I remember someone posting Beibei for sale here.
Anyway, as ramu said, no Honami until IFA.

Sure, Honami wont be announced officially before Aug.
More importantly, guys please just calm down. Even Honami will be just a high-spec. flagship phone. It will by no means be an revolutionary device. So I suggest not to put too much expectations or even dreams on it.
Of course, Homani will surely be good phone in terms of HW, SF and design.
