so, anyone reckon we should stay away from the 1st batch considering the issue with screen lottery?

First batch are the press sample kits, they will never arrive in the hands of customers. The first shipments that go out to the store are always already a first revision after detailed analysis of the first large-scale production run (press samples).

surprisingly, their photos are better compared to gsmarena's samples. also very surprisingly, the author seemed very cautious about giving out comments on the display and camera. they emphasized that it was just a preview unit.

although they immediately recovered their "renown" as being phonearena with the following paragraph

For now, it looks like Sony has come up with a very capable smartphone, which, however, doesn't seem to be that much (if at all) better than what the competition (Samsung, LG and HTC) already has.

So if this gem of a phone is released next week, how many of you guys will be getting one?

I know I'll be in the phone shop willing to part with some cash

I am seriously thinking of selling my htc One so I can get this beauty. Though I will take a good look at in store before committing myself. If the display is as good if not better than the One then I won't be able to resist. Build quality looks superb on this device too.

Have to agree the build quality on this one does look superb, I'll be in the shop next week looking for one, my t is giving up the ghost now.

@vikeviki - portable wireless server doesn't seem to do anything you can't already do now? I do that sort of thing with my XS. granted it's not as easy as NFC enabled, but once it's set up, it's quite the same.

@sponse - great point with the tripod! i didn't know those sample photos with the 1020 were taken with a tripod.. definitely defeats the purpose of mobile imaging.

I can't wait to get my hands on the Z1. Seriously. It is a decision that takes up a few hours of my day going back and forth on whether I should continue to wait for C6906 or just preorder the C6903 and get the free smartwatch. is LTE that important?? IS IT? IS ITTTT???? haha

I agree moogoo, but I feel sony is doing lot of things with its NFC device,so more gadgets fitted will be coming from Sony, after phone with good accessories is a good trend......

I felt little weird when phone arena said its to big to use the phone in one hand and they also compared to S4 its more bulkier, not sure how small hand people will use this device.

interesting that we are now seeing samples and reviews from retail units and they are all showing extremely good screens (haven't read all posts before this one so sorry if I missed something)

@aurelius:

What can you tell about the speaker performance?
Loudness and how does it sound overall?
Any other phone to compare?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this
