yeah i know winnings the point in it, but what i really meant to ask was how do you play it? and why do they get so many breaks?

thankfully, i'm not watching the cricket, as we're going to get completely shat on.
super - basically, to play cricket one man throws a ball at a target, and another man hits it away as far as he can. as measuring the distance would slow the game down (the irony is just lovely), the hitter runs as far as he can to give an arbitary value to the quality of the hit.
when all the hitters from one team is out, they swap roles and let the other side have a go.
it's not rocket science, and there's no fiddly offside rule.
as to why they have so many breaks, five days is a long time to be fielding (like when australia are batting against us), so they have periods when they can go to the toilet, and break down in tears and stuff, so the spectators (nearly said crowd, but would have been a mistake) don't see them blubbing.

next time on sport for the cerebrally challenged: baseball - isn't it just rounders with spitting?
