Just to let you guys know after seeing a post over at My-Symbian it appears Mobileshop.com have today been given a provisional date from SE of 22/05 for the handsets to come into stock.
I phoned them myself and they confirmed the date and that it had come from official SE sources today.
From past experience Mobileshop.com are generally pretty reliable(ie they don't lie through their teeth like some dealers) in terms of giving out release/stock dates.

Why the sudden turnaround that the rumour now is that it will be available in June ?
It is still a rumour as there is still no official news from the Sony Ericsson public relation department.
We have 12 more days to wait and see if it is true that the P990i will be out on 22/05/06(Monday).

After the official statement regarding the Q1 to Q2 delay, Q2 has always been the official SE story. Anything else has always just been rumours.
I must admit I am suprised myself at the date provided by Mobileshop.com, but in addition to the original poster over at My Symbian I also phoned them up myself and indepentently confirmed the date with them and that the date although in their words "provisional" was from SE themselves.
I am wondering if whatever problems they were having with the P990 they have found a miracle fix for, and are therefore pushing hard to get it out ASAP, although if the 22/05 date is realistic presumably it will have already been in manufacturing for a while and just about to ship to distributors.
