The J1 or Z1c with slightly smaller top and bottom bezels (something like the Z3c) to make it more compact would make a great mid-range compact / small phone, at a somewhat lower cost than the high-end, and it would be a good fit for me.
The closest thing to what I want is still the Z1c itself (cheaper than Z3c), but would love the dimensions to be shaved down just a little. Leaving aside OS, the iPhone 5 is a good size but too expensive, 5C is still quite expensive and now available with too little storage (only 8GB) and has a processor that is two generations old (and not 64-bit unlike the iPhone 5 and 6). And everything else is still getting bigger

I spoke of 3 brands that benefit more than Sony in my post and all you could register in your mind was Samsung

Dude, only cool people like yourself buy Sonys, thats why there are rumors of Sony leaving mobile, there isn't enough cool people like yourself to support them or care about the Z4 in Spectre....catch my drift?

I don't want to argue with you, you're very dismissive of Sony and seem to know the sales figures well ahead of time. Sony won't sell their mobile division, they'll be around for longer than you think and the sales will prove you wrong. Peace.

They also complained when no profit when the yen was strong, works both way. Profit is profit.
