wow wangs.just over two grand for a w950i.thats a real steal.i love the memory/RAM specs of the new n95 8 gig.93mb free RAM 30 minutes after booting the phone with no apps running in the background.Thats impressive you gotta admit.Plus 112mb free phone memory and obviously throw in that 8Gb's which is seperate. That my friend is a multimedia monster indeed. What is also an interesting phone is the HTC TYTN II.Look at the ROM drive of that baby.256mb's.What the hell is on there I ask myself.WOW.Also it has HSUPA which is speeds up to 3.6mbps.Incredible.Wangs Im only telling you this because you upgrading soon and I think you should have a look around before deciding on that P1i.Its looking a bit frail compared to whats around at the mo.By the way the P1i has 76.3mbs free RAM after booting so thats not so bad at all.I browse mainly on my phone and have played around on HSDPA handsets and they are fantastic.I dont know if the networks are equipped for HSUPA handsets yet but boy I can just imagine what a cool experience that must be.Cometh June when my second contract becomes due,Im going to have one hell of a choice of phone to choose from and this P990i will get an early retirement.Unfortunitely.With whats around now,Im afraid I have no choice.Mobile technology is moving forward swiftly and its starting to feel like Im lagging behind spec-wise.What I have is more than sufficient but I want more.AAAAAAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

The man certainly makes some very valid points, not least of which is the fact that available RAM is so all-important

I totaly agree with Hobbs! Thats why i got rid of the idea of getting the W960! In away my N80 has some better strengths than W960!
My upgrade is in May and the phones i have in mind are all s60: N95-8GB, N81-8GB, N95 Classic, or if i cant get those il get a N93i with 4GB MiniSD.
Im on a Talk120s contract on Vodacom so i think i can get some of those phones Free. Excluding the N95-8GB.
The P1 and W960 specs look quite outdated compared to their competition, hope SE have something good to announce soon.

Me too Gucci.Doesnt have to be soon though.By next year June will do for me.That uber-SE phone must be in the display cabinet at my local Vodashop ready for me to walk in and upgrade.16million colour display, one up screen-size from 240 by 320,touchscreen(finger/stylus orientated),128mb RAM but who know what RAM specs will be possible in 8 months time.video recording at 30fps,5mp camera with AF,HSDPA or if im lucky HSUPA,(3G,EDGE and GPRS) A2DP,16GB's of memory, only jokes 8GB's will do just fine.3.5mm jack for my head-phones.You guys might want GPS but I persnally dont need it.Have I left out anything. All these thing exist and are out there and there is 8 months till my upgrade.Surely there will be a phone like that from SE by that time or GOD FORBID Ericsson who was bought by Sony,is bought by HTC and becomes HTCSE.lol

@ Hobbster,
I have been looking at the TyTN II as an option. Went into my local Orange shop recently and they really tried to sweeten a deal for me. They'll give the TyTN II for 'free' on a 18 month contract, for £31.50 a month (500 minutes anytime any network plus unlimited UK texts each month, plus free evening and weekend calls to landlines).
I had a look at it again today. Roughly the same size as the P900, but that's obviously where the similarities end.
Love how one can 'angle' up the whole front slide if you want, once you've pulled the qwerty slide out, ie. so that the display/front slide 'sits up' like a mini-laptop of sorts. Camera has no flash though, athough autofocus is there.
Lovely, seriously loaded piece of kit.
The LG KU990 Viewty will also be available very soon, 5mp with AF, touchscreen, far more slender dimensions and an incredible 120 FPS video capability!

But it's a LG; I dunno... apparently the phone's pretty darn good, and had an excellent review on
www.gsmarena.com .
No room for the stylus; it fits into a dongle/sheath that can be attached to the phone, like some people do with 'phone charm' kak.

You know what Wangs.just visited
www.htc.com and then afterwards
www.sonyericsson.com and something just doesnt sit right with me when it comes to HTC.Yes,their devices are gobsmackingly powerful, but they lack something with me.Havent quite put my finger on it yet. When I pin-point that feeling I'll let you know. Then read up on the SE P1i and realised, yes it might lack the power of some of the other brands but it just oozes something that tantalises my tastebuds. Its a damn good looking phone. My P990i has never given me any of the major issues that most people always talk about,so Ive only got good thing to say about it,so imagining my P990i with a slightly larger mega-pixel camera and plus minus four times more RAM after boot up,I can only imagine what a great phone it is.Dont take any note of me when I go on about bigger and better this and that.Everyone has their day when they just want the 'ULTIMATE SMART-PHONE' Its always unfortunitely going to be like that with new phones coming out from all sides all the time. Its the UIQ platform that does it for essentially in the end.Its grown on me and I wait in anticipation to see what UIQ have for us in the future.UIQ.4.0 Can you just imagine. So my verdict is........You've come this far wanting the P1i,get the P1i...........bugger the rest.About retiring my P990i in June,I think not.Going to cancel my second contract and get MWEB ADSL in my flat.R169/month for 1GB capped and the router/modem comes free.Thats how much my second contract is costing me monthly.Conclusion-I LOVE MY P990i and the rest of those multimedia giants can go SUCK!!!!!

The one thing that really gets me scratching my already-bald pate is this- we had some pretty neat phones pre-gprs, right. Standby of umpteen hours, etc. Along came gprs and batteries didn't last quite as long. Now add on GPS, some more bells and whistles, and you're sitting with handsets which deliver the goods, but don't have the battery life we demand from a handset. Anybody who uses the Net extensively on most handsets will testify to the fact that those bars drop alarmingly fast if you're doing some heavy browsing. We also know that the moment the white coats manage to squeeze another 20% of capacity into a battery, the chaps upstairs, those who wear those thick Tupperware-lensed specs, come up with even more bells and whistles which take up that 20% and demand even more power. Where does it end? Can we reasonably expect to see a handset which satisfies our requirements AND offers outstanding battery life despite heavy usage? I certainly hope so... En daar's my two-bob vir vandag
