Hi guy's, I'm really excited as I'm getting my nice new P990 tomorrow. Can you tell me what the latest Orange firmware verion is? I will have to update the phone before anything if it's the older version.

Thanks a27aab. That's the info I was after. I'll make a new thread if I get problems. I shall have to search through the existing ones for all the how to's and tricks you guy's have discovered.

if i had another phone just any, i would have thrown my P990i to the garbage. I think the biggest mistake is that i sold my P910i, and bought that crap P990i with its crappy software. All it does is crashing and restarting. everyday i have to turn it on and off in order to make things work. Its slowest phone i have ever owned. I hope the next firmware will fix all that, because its very dissapointing.

Just updated my R4 to R7. Looks like no new firmware (R9) yet.
Unlike my first P990 with chinese enabled, my second P990 with only english works like a charm. Yippee da do......loving it more

R9 may have a chance for today since today is the start of the largest telecom event this year. The ITU Telelcom show in HK.

@siandy;
I used to have the chinese enabled sets and it gave me lots of problems till I decided to let it go (sold off).
Yesterday, after much searching I deceided to get back the P990i english language set only and updated the firmware to world generic 2, got R7 installed now.
Here is what i believe. The chinese enabled sets comes in dual language and that takes up more ROM and becomes very noticeable when using handwriting. The speed was so very lagging and often had to "restart to improve performance".
Hence, when I decided to get the P990i back, I made very sure I got myself the english sets only.
