Cut the HTC crap now!!

For the X10, I still want some kind of official press note stating that Android 2.x will find its way to the X10 and not statement from events in Italy and Netherland.

Yeah. But the more important question is WHEN!
The guys at SE are surely concentrating all their resources on making the Android 1,6 OS and UX stable and fast until the release. So I suppose the 2.0 upgrade will take its time..

@Shepy

No, these are HTC phones. Back to facts and off HTC for the moment.

Not everybody is a tech head. The phone should work straight from the box, some people will take the X10 from the box with Android 1.6 and use it not knowing of any updates at all. The software version may not even bother them as long as it works. Others will have one Satio issue and get it refunded without bothering with updates. You have to think of these people as well, the news of Satio being recalled will make people think twice. You can't tell someone to update their software straight out of the box, that will piss anybody off.

Back to the X10, the latest one that I played with was a lot faster than the first prototypes. I was impressed with the speed improvement on the Scape stuff. This particular one have camera focus problems but I was assured it was software related. The video playback of a full movie was nice. It had minimal lag, those who have used the X2 will know that the processor lets it down here but I was happy with the X10. Its getting better each time I see it.

@badassman
That bode well for the future.
Pray for God the X10 wont be plauged with software issues like Satio and Aino.

For the record, the Aino hasnt had any software issues. It was a media mock up.

@ se_dude

It's a "media mock-up" in the sense that Sony Ericsson are quoted on Reuters :

Sony Ericsson says smartphone software glitch fixed
"Sony Ericsson UK and Ireland is pleased to confirm that new software is now available for both Satio and Aino (smartphones)," the company, owned by Ericsson (ERICb.ST) and Sony Corp. (6758.T), said in a statement.

"We can confirm this updated software has been approved by UK operators and fixes previous software issues."

In the sense that it's a media prank perpetuated by Sony Ericsson on themselves presumably to eneter into the spirit of the Season and introduce a bit of humour in pre holiday UK sales?

Yes it's always the nasty media (controlled by Eldar) ganging up on poor SE.

Snowflake: I get the point you're putting across. But every high profile handset that has been out in the recent times; say the BB Storm, the N97, the Omnia HD, The Pre and Boinng's right arm have all had issues out of the box and were fixed down the line (More or less). But none received the harsh treatment from the press that they reserved for SE products. That's all I'm saying.

Exactly.

Im sorry but i'd disagree. The N97 was slated far worse than SE's products. Even to this day after its fixes if you ask in my local CPW they scream at people not to buy one.

Dangerous game;the Storm bombed, the N97 bombed, no idea about the Omnia (relative figs) Pre sales were so so but the media loved the Palm comeback story and the candy on the OS and Boinng's right arm has had a couple of problems, I think there was a hiccup with the new Firmware at the 3G launch but, and I'm sure Masseur or any of the guys in the iPhone Thread can correct me here, I think it was fixed in about a week or so from launch. A couple of other firmwares have had reported problems but again I think fixed in about a week or two. If there had been problems on say the scale and duration (4months) of the N97 it'd be plastered all over the media.
