I don't feel it. I think it's still pretty early for a flagship. And if zomg is right, the only flagship for 2014.

Zomg is right on this one. 95% sure.

@ Dacha

Then Z2 would be Sirius? I heard Sirius will be announced on MWC and released in Mar-Apr.

Confused

It is still unclear why nVidia used the companion core instead of big.Little, but that is definitely not because of die size: Cortex-A15 is more than four times as big as an A7 ( http://www.anandtech.com/show[....]architecture-power-at-isscc-13 ), in other words, they can put 4 Cortex-A7 cores instead of the companion A15, and end up with a smaller chip. The reason why they chose the companion core instead may be because they just reused the Tegra 4 CPU with a newer process and using big.LITTLE would have taken more time to implement.

My guess is big.LITTLE wasn't ready by that time, and we all know Tegra 4 was almost the first Quad A15 chip out there while most other makers only had Dual A15.. and even when Samsung came with Exynos 5 Octa, they brought it in very early non-finished state ( still Beta ) and never had Quad A15 only SoC... maybe later when process technology advances more then A15 will be good for quad alone.. but by that time, A15 will be already old...

Just a more info. regarding the different between A7 and A15, here's quote from Anandtech

On 2013-02-24 15:00:00, Anandtech wrote:
...In its ISSCC paper on the topic Samsung noted that the Cortex A15 offered up to 3x the performance of the Cortex A7, at 4x the area and 6x the power consumption...

Now the picture is clear, In Tegra 4 the companion core is still A15, some sources I don't remember now stated that the reason why NVIDIA had another A15 core rather than just shutting down other cores is that the Companion A15 is more optimised for low power and clock, but the other Quad A15 are not...

but looking back at the quote, A15 is 3 times faster than A7 but with 6x more power and 4x die area... this is exactly why Tegra 4 isn't popular.. the companion core as an A15 even when optimised, its not good for idle times and standby, it's just too power hungry.. 6X the power of A7 at 3x the performance !! hell I don't want any Tegra 4 devices !!

Going back to Z2/Sirius...

@evleak is good, but I trust zomg more...
Maybe they want to uncover it in Feb. so every body wait for it.. and release it in May with 805.. but 3 months is too much..

regarding spec. 1440p is too good to be true, and 805 this early is very hard also.. except like I said having too much time between announcement and launch ( 3+ Months like pre 2012 days ).. 4GB ram is overkill but I like how it sounds, but I guess 3GB for 805 or 2GB for 800AB.. 32GB internal + microSD is very good indeed.. go on Sony... but zomg did mention the salt in this recipe... hope it taste well when it arrives

About the Z2 news, not surprising: flagship announcement at MWC, the spec mentioned by zomg in case it is the only flagship for 2014, release dates (march/april-int, june-us).
a bit surprising: it's the Z2 - was expecting it at IFA (i'm assuming that it means also a new design), and that it may be the only flagship for 2014. i can understand the first one but the only flagship for 2014... i doubt that. sony likes IFA and a new flagships every half a year.
anyway, very nice specs. gloves mode and no shatter film this time sony?

@supercoolman
Who knows... could be, but it would be a major change for sony. 2012: S>T. 2013:Z>Z1. the only disadvantage i see for it is that sony won't be able to offer 64 bit processor in 2014 while apple and samsung already got there. do you think this is marginal? some people buy phones every 4-5 years.
