@Miss UK, I did a little research about PAYG in the US, and both major GSM carriers have expirations on their minutes. T-Mobile gives you an actual minute count and Cingular gives you a certain amount of money and a rate per minute and a rate for SMS.

seems pretty reasonable. I guess this new batch of
s finally brought the price down. Should make these phones a little more competitive.
EDIT: $389 at myworldphone.com. I'd say buy there.

K ... so if you don't use the simwith mins etc what happens? would they cut it off
I mean no op should terminate a sim if you have credit on it surely
