For lazy peoples, Sony is reducing the orders for low-end from taiwanese OEM / ODM for both TV's and smartphones

In the wake of continued slow sales of its LCD and smartphone products, Sony is expected to lower the sales ratio of low-margin products and thus will adjust its outsourcing policy, a move which will affect Taiwan-based ODM/OEM partners, including Foxconn Electronics, TPV Technology and Arima Communications, according to industry sources.

Nothing can touch Z3 or even Z2 in battery life

Unfortunately, the HTC One M9 had every Snapdragon 810 issue you may have spotted online - its all-metal body quickly became unusually hot when running a game or a benchmark, or even when browsing for a while. There was a performance drop when the One M9 got hot, as we confirmed by running extra benchmarks.

HTC's response to the overheating allegations has so far pointed out that the software on these pre-production units is not final.

Read the Anandtech's review better

http://www.anandtech.com/show/9102/the-htc-one-m9-review-part-1

As a summery it had those issue with the older non-final software, but after the last-hour update it's almost fixed, no noticeable issues

It's part 1 which will be followed by in depth analysis of battery, heat and performance in part 2

@Xajel
Several sites including gsmarena report that update brought sever decrease in benchmark performance thus less heat.
at any rate sony will get revised version hopefully.also its not much warmer than many usual smartphones

So the Snapdragon 815 is apparently sampling very soon. 20nm TSMC process, expected mass market delivery for late Q2/early Q3 2015.

Looking good for the LG G4 and Sony's H2 flag and possibly the Note 5.

It utilises Qualcomm's first 64bit custom architecture, Kyro, but not the final version, rather an early version.

I do wonder whether Qualcomm would have been better off not bothering with the 810 and just bringing the 815 release forwards by a few months. The 820 is not going to be ready until next year. The 810 has really hit their reputation for delivering efficient and quality silicon by using off the shelf architecture for 64bit rather than backing their own IP.

If I were Sony I wouldn't even bother with the Z4 and just go in hard with the Z3 and get some discounts on the screen and chips now that they are quite old. Reprice it to £349/$399 offline and just wait it out for S815 and have a July release of the Z4 with S815/QHD/4GB DDR4.

I'm sure Sony's hardware team will manage to tame the S810 but it seems like a lot of work for not very much gain.

^ Announcement is rumored for April/May. No time for SD815. SD820 and 4GB for Z5.

I wonder if the first 810 sample units were overheating more than Sony wanted? And then perhaps Sony then needed to either wait for new revised 810 samples or the Z4 construction had to be rebuilt to accommodate the extra heat generated? Or perhaps the delay is because Sony is switching to the one flagship per year cycle now. Whatever the reasons I honestly hope the next Sony flagship will not be put out to market because they need a 810 competitor. If it is true what ZOMG says and a 2H flagship is due with a 815, then there is no point in even waiting for the Z4

@JohnnyNr.5

ZOMG says there is a 2H flagship, unless this will or can be moved to 1H 2016.

one of few sites i trust android central.

The result on the M9? Pretty much nothing. I could feel the phone heat up some, but not to anywhere near what anyone would reasonably call uncomfortable, let alone dangerous. It simply did not happen under what is considered normal, if not solid, use. Not even enough cause for concern to even worry about taking its temperature.

After nearly two weeks of use, concerns over the M9's Snapdragon 810 processor prove unfounded
