Cingular has 850 MHz in several areas, but my K750i picks up reception from the AT&T towers most of which are 1900 MHz. You can always use the following link to check the frequencies in your area:
http://wirelessadvisor.com/checkzip.cfm
If you see Cingular with 1900 MHz, then you know the K750i would work. But I can say for sure that I cannot expect my K750i to work in all parts of the country!

there are a few quad-band phones available through Cingular. Some of the Motos are quad-band and the Treos are both quad-band. There are a few others as well.

i don't necessarily need a quad-band, just thought it would be nice to have for traveling or if i wanted to switch carriers.
what i really want is a K750, which i know is compatible with my T-mobile account. but i'm afraid the phone has too many bugs and i can't easily return it!
so i guess i'll just have to wait for all the K750 problems to get fixed or look for something else. worse things have happened

I was at Ft. Lauderdale and Miami. Reception was awesome and I know it is pretty darn good all the way down the Keys. There are some parts of North Central Florida that you may not be able to use the 1900 MHz. It works great in the Orlando and Tampa areas too though.
As far as I know, all major cities have both 850 MHz and 1900 MHz on Cingular and most of these could be the old AT&T towers. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Well, if the 1900 MHz towers are going away in the future, all of us with the phones that use 1900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 900 MHz will be doomed if we stick with Cingular. Hopefully T-Mobile will have a wider network with 1900 MHz all over the nation and our contracts will be up and that will help us switch to T-Mobile! Else we will have to go with phones that can handle the 850 MHz frequency.
