While on most situations I totally agree with you even here when Childish comparison is getting furverish. However we're comparing for those almost in line to upgrade their existing phones
1) we no longer pay exorbitant pricing on high end phones after 3mths like we all used to.
2) Most ppl prefer bang for buck .. but much like the old 1990 Mustang (just for slight BANG for BUCK comparo here I know its a car) it gave straight line performance, towing capacity of a truck, great after market tuning (S60 apps comparo - enlighten me here), at a cheap price. But long term drivability, safety and comfort along with falling fuel economy more $$ to own over time really wasn't worth it. The more you have to charge a battery in a week cycle (N95 in this case is 5-6x per week) the quicker it'll need to be replace.
Now Considering battery issues that Nokia has FINALLY acknowledged - something we've ALL seen in the news of late - is going to be a HUGE concern and then there is the fast spawing Nokia clone batteries which started all of this problems I'd be terrified just LOOKING for a Nokia battery. No thanks I'd rather take my chances with a fake SE HBH-DS970 BT Stereo Headset than a Nokia replacement battery that may be fake OR official. Because either way its bound to cause my phone to FRY/overheat/damage - and if either happens I'll spend MORE $$ & frustration & stress trying to PROVE "it wasn't me"!
No thanks that ALONE has kept me away from ANY Nokia phone for the moment until they can resort to Lithium Polymer battery, better design & newer nominclature of their batteries for newer or current models, and an EASY way for the PHONE to VERIFY its official. HECK NOKIA you're RUNNING a Smartphone OS why don't you make the FIRMWARE KNOW what JUICE itS SUCKING ON! Silly numbskulls. Simple solution to a rather COMPLEX problem. NOTE This suggestion is copyright AND i WANT FULL compensation for any implementation of such suggestion in $United Emerates of Arab Dinar coinage pls
Now that said there are a LOT to compare knowing current situations and history of BOTH product lines / companies and their implementation. Note I'm not trying to compare a non production K850i's camera to an N95's camera that has a few firmware revisions behind it; just the core product platforms in which their implementations are NOT very different.
PS anyone see Sony's PS3 presentation from the last E3 this year ... where an SE W880 was used to take a photo using that media manager (from W910 & 960) and uploaded via 3G to the PS3's gallery? Hmm ... very interesting.!

Uahahahaha this made me laugh, dude GPS in java based phone is simply PAIN IN ASS. I used it once, and promised to never use it again, it's shitty, it consumes money for GPRS map, and if u go outside country, You will pay for navigation more than a k850i is worth. Oh really .. show me 1 phone where GPS is imbedded and an application not by company name but also by Application name that gives you TURN by TURN based navigation AND allows for real-time update of traffic information and can give you an ALTERNATE route based on already inputted destination route that DOES NOT use GPRS data bandwidth to DO SO?!
NOTHING - NONE - ZILTCH! CANNOT BE DONE because NO app that is stored on Memory card is UP TO DATE! Especially when traffic, accident or road detour is in full affect!
I understand the point you're TRYING to make but you're not making it with the point you made above. Rethink what you're TRYING to say and say it as thus. I'm on you're side with this ... but until just 1.3yrs ago NOBODY thought they NEEDED GPS Mapping. Many of us do fine, just fine without GPS - for quite some time I'll continue to do so. I'm no soldier where I'm going to be dropped out of a plan parachuting. I plan my trips ahead and remember landmarks BEFORE I embark to a new geographical area. And on route I'll memorize reference points and always will keep not of where NORTH IS. And I grew up on HOW to read a map not the other way around.

Hey that's fine, but you have to realize you are a market outlier. You are not basing your decision on empircal facts, but rather on your own personal preference based upon brand loyalty/aesthetics or however you want to conjure it.
Just realize that some of us make our purchases differently...

Wow You can read map, congratulaitons, but its not about it. If Your memory is so good that it can remember a full 1000km trip through 4 diffrent countries, and You will always know where to drive, and where are gas stations, then i guess u should be in a guiness book.

^ (above) you've just PROVEN my point, yet again. No app stored on the memory card (even the phone memory) is UP-TO-DATE! NONE is WITHOUT getting more information on recent traffic/accidental events ON your route.

As I said I can remember my trips. Getting lost isn't so hard to get UNLOST if you remember the route, landmarks along the way. You just backtrack. 1000km trip thru 4 different countries would be a test indeed. I'm not from Europe - & since being a baby have never visited there. I can travel 1000km and be within the same country, just another province/two. Canada ... Largest country by landmass in the world - or the 2nd. However if the route is NOT too complex - multiples of left & right turns within just a small distance compounded numerous of times along the route; its POSSIBLE that I MAY be able to remember the route. However getting lost within 4 different countries can be unnerving for most ... especially when you have to resort to asking for directions to a known/memorized landmark; when you don't speak the native tongue of the country you're in. However, sticking to the GPS map .... and NOT asking for directions .... you miss a vital human component .... communication. Plus you loose the experience of discovering a new culture.
Call me old fashioned, but I like getting lost and finding my way to be found again or on route again. I like speaking to new interesting ppl. Here in my country everyday I can meet someone from another cultural background or whom was borne elsewhere in this world. Anyway ppl have different uses for using a GPS ... and being snide about someone reading a map is quite arrogant. Reading a GPS map on a smartphone is COMPLETELY different.
I for one prefer the choice of CHOOSING an accessory to use GPS rather than incur the extra cost of having it embedded and not find a need/daily use for it at all.
BTW, SE's FastPort implementation using java to render the app, not to fully run it. the accessory has a GPS chip within it. I see NO major issues with BlackBerry 8800 (embedded GPS chip with GPRS assistance), 8801 Pearl (all GPRS), 8300 Curve (all GPRS/EDGE) using TeleNav or other Java based Turn by Turn mapping system. and All current BB units are Java J2ME based OS'.
