This is the Triluminos explanation for BRAVIA by Sony. No mention of Quantum dots. Exact same words are used for Z1/Z Ultra QD Intro vid

No mention of Quantum Dots here too, but that doesn't mean we assume Triluminos BRAVIA sets also use software

EDIT2: Same for VAIO. No Quantum Dots written anywhere

Swedroid mention in their first look that Trilluminos is a marketing name for "better screens".
http://www.swedroid.se/vi-pro[....]a-flaggskepp-xperia-z1-honami/

Swedroid is extremely credible and they wouldn't write something like that without talking to Sony first. (Swedish sites usually get more detailed information from the representatives because they talk the same language)

Previously, some user decides to spread rumours that Sony is reusing screens and having screen lottery. After that was completely debunked, you, a resident Sony critic come with a Swedish website that I have never heard before and tell everybody trust that website instead of Sony.

So Esatoians - Do you trust Sony or that Swedish website?

It's getting ridiculous that this thread tries to come out with stupid rumours and try it best to come with theories on how Sony is trying to cheat their customers. Try harder.

^who is "everyone"? i've yet to read a review that say the bezels are huge. everyone says the Z1's design is gorgeous and those who have commented on the bezel, especially in this forum, say that they are perfect size for holding it in landscape mode..

@Motvikt
There is no credibility at all in Swedroids statement regarding triluminous.
I want source before I believe in it.
It's not that I'm that kind of person doubting everything.
I haven't read it somewhere else but it could very well be like they say.

I don't really get why people get so worked up here
And people need to understand that the phone is a very good phone no matter what but Trilimunious and stuff like that is probably just a marketing name, happens every time. It doesn't mean that the screen is automatically bad it just means that Sony is doing what everyone else is doing. Using a trademarked name to advertise their phones and get their phone sales up. I've also heard from several sources although Swedroid is the only one I can name right now that have stated that Triliminous is a SW based thing. Now bear in mind that this is just a humble mans opinion.

I thought it was extremely obvious that Triluminos was just a backlighting technology. Using red and green "Quantum dots" (really small LED's) alongside the standard white LED backlighting, to increase colour gamut.

The one who started spreading that the Z1 uses the leftovers panels from the Z and ZL is total bullshit.
I can confirm no such thing occurred.
Practically, if you think about it, how Triluminos works is by emitting a blue LED light into this quantum dots of reds and greens.
Conventional LCD screens like the one that canes with the Z have its white LED shine past the RGB panel.
So if that donkey "source" is correct, Sony have to tear open the leftovers, modify the existing panel for it to be compatible for the blue LED.
It's simply not practical, or perhaps, pure stupidity.

Triluminos for mobile doesnt use quantum dots. Its a software enhancement, read the white paper

I couldn't find any such mention in the Whitepaper. Can you take a snap of the portion and post ?

Triluminos cannot be emulated with a software. You cannot expand the color gamut with a software.

Thats the point. There is no mention of quantum dots, on the Bravia tvs its mentioned everywhere. And if it is a hardware addition why the massive difference in screen quality? The old "its a prototype" argument?

And you can change color gamut through software. You just have to calibrate the screens, Apple increased their color gamut to sRGB standard for iPhone 5

I hate idiots, who come marching here, acting like a boss, praising the iPhone and start posting crap without researching.
Poor guy. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Seriously chill with the language. This is not the first time you are extremely hostile against people with different opinions

it's not an opinion - he's trying to post facts with little knowledge and try to mislead people, he does it in almost every post he makes - mobile is a very big global business - you will always get people trying to taint the technology of competitors - it just doesn't work here because we know better
