Don't forget that a phone's antennae have to go somewhere - top bezel allows for great cellular/wifi/bluetooth connectivity, been told from guys in the business that when network engineers want to run tests they always ask for Sony handsets as they give the best connection - and I personally don't like notches and hole punches intruding in my screen anyway

An acceptable bezel size is needed, not the curved screen zero bezel teardrop notch stuff, it's fine if you have stereo front speakers. XZ4 with cinema screen but no front speakers wouldn't be a proper cinema experience. Regarding XA3, a symmetrical front would make it look great even if there are noticeable bezels. Considering that the XA3 is ultra tall, surely the Compact will have the same screen ratio? High and mid with tall screen but not the Compact doesn't make sense to me. Surely the Premium will have it too in OLED.

Taking the second speaker to the bottom of the device is a good move imo. Bottom plus top front, still stereo, doubt anyone will complain much while it allows for less bezels for the mass market's sake.

Can someone calculate the height and width of this phone from the pictures? I don't know how to do it.. Why do I feel like this is the new midrange compact.. Roland tweeted this morning something like, Japan this is for you.. I mean there was always talks about the compact being limited to few areas.. So this might be the compact.. Or Roland might be implying something else.. But then why did he specifically mention Japan and not use the word too? Is the earlier XA models available in Japan???

These chinese oems popped up a few years back
Sony should atleast be competing in the top segment... These chinese oems are not stupid.. People buy the phones for the features they provide but not because they love the phones
How many people are excited for the release of a new phone from these chinese oems, compare that to sony... There are a lot of people waiting for them to make a right step forward.. They are simply stubborn and not giving people what they can.. There are lot of technology that sony has access to and isnt implementing i dont know why.. Sony too has a version of the under display fps.. When will we see those.. Its been a long time
News about jdi bezelless displays came in 2017 i think... I havent seen a single sony phone with those displays
The only thing exclusive to sony flagships is dvs and the camera of xz2 premium..
Sony has a very large fan following and yes people will become disappointed when sony fails to deliver

I haven't used any complicated calculations, I can say that the leaked dimensions are accurate.

This is very true. I recently noticed how less sharp the pictures look on my note 8 compared to my old Sony ericsson Sola.
