Apparently it seems they are leaning towards the 850 due to the signal strenght. Below is a cut and paste directly from their website.
Expanding Network Reach and Quality
During the last 12 months, we have added or improved 15,000 cell sites, including those added through roaming agreements in major cities with Cingular Wireless and other GSM carriers. We have more than doubled our national GSM/GPRS coverage area so that it is now includes approximately 1.2 million square miles in the United States.* In addition to expanding our network reach, we continue to aggressively improve the quality of our GSM network. In many major markets, we have installed hardware and software to improve our customers' wireless usage experiences. The new hardware and software allow callers with compatible GSM/GPRS devices to use the 850-megahertz band of the radio spectrum, which generates a stronger signal than the 1900-megahertz band, travels over larger areas and penetrates walls better. Is there anyone on this thread using a K750 on Cingular service?
Or a 1900 Mhz phone on Cingular? ( U.S. )

I think ResidentEvil uses a P900, but I don't know if he is on Cingular or T-Mobile.
I remember reading about several people using K700s in the US, but I don't think many of them are regulars in this thread.
