The M2 conforms to the MS Pro specification. So it's speeds should be the same. In due course no doubt they will bring out high speed M2 cards (if not already), but for now they should perform atleast as good as standard MSDP.

I did some transfer tests on MSDP and USB2 card reader:
258MB movie file
Write: 49 seconds (5.3MB/s)
Read: 20 seconds (12.5MB/s)

258MB of music files
Write: 62 seconds (4.2MB/s)
Read: 24 seconds (11MB/s)

So yeah, it is way slower than theoretical, but still 50-75% faster than what sandisk claim for writing, and 10-25% faster on reading.

RE: DCU-60, I got my decimal places confused
DCU-60
Write - 0.3MB/s
Read - 0.4MB/s

Does any one here know when the 4gb micro will be out? And how much will it cost?

Don't know, but M2 2GB in Australia is slightly cheaper than MSDP 2GB. MSDP 4GB is AUD200.

DCU-60
Write - 0.3MB/s
Read - 0.4MB/s

Yeah the USB cable sucks. My bluetooth 2.0 dongle can transfer twice as fast as the USB cable to my K800. However the Z610 is definitely faster than K800 when using the DCU-60, so I guess it is up to the phone as well.

Edit: sorry that 20min+ is using DCU-60 cables. Using Sandisk 8in1 require few minutes to write 800MB.

My K750 also runs DCU-60 faster than bluetooth - it seems K800 has dropped the ball on DCU-60 speed? Disappointing...

Does anyone here actually HAVE a 4gb M2? I plan on buying one, but I first want to know how much slower it would take to browse through tracks and whatnot on a phone like the S500 (the one I'm soon going to get in a few days).

If it's too slow then I don't think I can bear with it... As much as I need a 4gb M2, I'd rather not hinder that beautiful phone and use a 2gb M2 instead...
I've stood by my w900i's terrible lagginess long enough; i.e. Sandisk 4gb Ultra II Memory Stick Pro Duo, but even the increased speed from the Ultra II series didn't really do much.

Which is why I'm deciding to change from a w900i to an s500i. It's basically an even match between the two; w900i beats it in features, built in memory, AF+F CAMERA, 3g, and 3d acceleration, but the s500i has a better design, thinner, lighter, faster and smoother UI, walkman 1.4, and even smoother & faster gameplay & applications due to the fact that the s500 and a majority of all recent ericsson phones are able to run faster and more efficiently.

I recently bought a fake 4GB MS Pro Duo "Sony". My question is if the original 4gb ms pro duo sony are Hot Swap, and what is the read and write speed of the original ms pro duo 4gb. I have test the speed of the fake and the write speed is 265KB/s, being the read speed 327KB/s. thanks in advance.

I got a 2GB M2 card not very long ago for my K800i (previously having a 1GB card in it). Since I swapped it I've had a bit of a serious problem: I can't select the memory card as the place to save pictures to. If I do, it simply won't take the picture. I take a LOT of pictures with my K800, and the 80-something MB internal is simply not enough. Oh, incidentally, the 2GB is a Sandisk and the 1GB is a Sony.

Note: My K800i is one of the first ones out on the market (at least in Europe). I got it about 2 weeks after it appeared. I don't even know if I ever updated the FW. For the rest I have NO idea, haven't messed around with it. Software versions:
CXC1250210
R1CB001
060608

Now that I have the K800, I can confirm that for me, the DCU60 cable transfer speed is actually 20% faster than the DCU60 speed of the K750. Certainly NOT slower than bluetooth at all.
