as I said, call quality is vastly improved of the k-jam, it is no longer tinny and is crystal clear

BT profiles has been a weak point of WM5 phones but I use apps such as resco file explorer (which I would have anyway for its registery editor and better file exploring capabilities) to overcome most of the limitations. But in regards to range, perhaps that was specific to the JasJar as I never had an issue with the k-jam

not asure what you mean about wakeup delays?

what I can say is that I thought the k-jam was fairly responsive, the TyTN just flies! there are no staggers while displaying the icons ni the program window and switching tasks just happens. messaging takes longer to startup first time than most apps but I do have quite a few email accounts in there

@Gavin,

I hope Sleepyhead can install that app and i will try it on the TyTn, but still fear issues around call quality, wake-up delays and poor BT signal strenght

Fingers crosss the TyTN may be arriving tommorrow morning, but no guarantees as yet. Clove still say they are expecting stock today, but it hadn't arrived when I spoke to them...

I almost bought mine from Clove but they don't do VAT refund scheme which means I can reclaim my VAT as I leave EU for oz.

Expansys do use the VAT refund scheme and subtracting the VAT to be refunded I was still better off with Expansys

I don't use a Ltd company in UK any more... too much paperwork that I am no good at, so I can't reclaim VAT that way. I use an umbrella company instead run by some accountants and they get to do all the paper work!

@masseur

on the JJ if you used the Power Save option then when someone called you they would hear two or three rings before the JJ would alert you to an incoming call. This meant that if you were not quick you could miss the call - this is the 'wake-up' problem.

Also I had problems with my JJ when on a train and switching from GPRS to UMTS etc. It would keep switching hundereds of times, I know as I had a 18 page Vodafone bill that showed all the connections/disconnections etc. This was sorted with a firmware upgrade, but just wondering what the TyTn is like as you move between GPRS/UMTS.

ah! I never used the power save mode.

I've used the TyTN on the train yesterday morning/evening and again today (45 minutes each trip including 2 long tunnels) and have only noticed the switching in the same places where the M600 also loses 3G because vodafnoe doesn't have full 3g coverage on my train trip, so in that respect it seems fine so far but I'll pay closer attention (and check my online bill!)

@masseur, the other nasty problem with Power Save on the JJ was that if you had a file open on the SD card and the JJ went into Power Save mode when it re-started there was chance the application would crash - happened to me with the Media Player and M$' Reader app (for ebooks). On the JJ you needed to use Power Save otherwise you' never get a light day of use from a single charge.

Would be interested to hear from other user of the TyTN who do use the Power Save option.

The pressure was too much....and the P990 still looks like a dream...so I've ordered a Voda version TyTN so that I can compare myself what its like against the p990. Its going to be busy here next week...
