have it debranded by a company, it will cost you around £18 to have it done, and the differences it will make are unbelievable.
The improvement in performance is quite marked and the gui is significantly enhanced as well as allowing for full use of the functions that the phone was designe to have.

Thanks,
Exactly which functions are currently restricted? Everything appears to work for me and every bug I have has also been reported by sim-free users of the P990i.
The only branding I can see is the splash screens and the hard-coded internet settings, I did have a P990i on Orange and that was a different story.

The only restriction I found so far on a Vodafone P990i are, besides the crappy desktop of course, the inability to change the function of the @ button on the right side. And remember, once debranded, it will stay like that until the next firmware flash only, when because of its IMEI it will revert to Vodafone!

@adara, apparently changing the CDA will then make the SEUS put unbranded firmware on the phone. Hence the IMEI must not play any part in it. Just the CDA.

A friend debranded his Vodafone P990i through a Service Center and last month he flashed the phone through SEUS and got back the Vodafone branding. So...

I'm only going on this
topic I would have thought they would not change the CDA of the phone via a service center.

If the CDA is changed, by the person who debrands it, then SEUS should not put branded software back on the device.
I have debranded lots of handsets who have subsequently used SEUS, with no issues.

Sainty, it wasn't "quite" official... Rather a little help from a friend from the dark side...
I saw that handset without the Vodafone branding and after firmware update the Voda stuff reapeared. That's why I chose to leave mine as it is.

FYI my SIM-free P990i (with CDA /66, Trade Netherlands) has now updated after 2 weeks of trying - so probably worth trying again if you have an O2 or Voda unit?
