mobileburn.com just got their hand on one. looks like iphone may have some issue.
Of course it will have some issues. Every v1.0 phone has issues. That's why they release software updates. Look at all the issues P990, M600 users are still having and SE have discontinued updates for them.
Interesting how you only mention the negative points of mobileburns initial report. For some balance, here's the positive:
"The device itself seems to work exactly as it does in the official Apple videos - except for the fact that our unit doesn't show the time as being 9:42pm constantly, of course. Applications load quickly, the screens flip instantly with beautiful 3D effects, and the touch screen is as easy to use as one could possible hope for. Scrolling through lists of messages, settings, or albums is so smooth and intuitive, you will never look at another phone the same way again. The finger based UI on this device makes that of the LG Prada phone look downright archaic. Apple has done a good job, based on what we have seen so far.
In any event, it seems obvious to me that Apple has just changed the game in this industry. It is sure to be an interesting year of catch-up for the major phone manufacturers.
From what I've read elsewhere, call quality is because of AT&Ts crappy network and the half-duplex codec they insist on using.
@maggflodd:
Yet more inaccurate posting. The iPhone's browser is not slow. It is AT&T's network that is slow. Every review has said that browsing via Wi-fi is very fast. Via EDGE is slow. This is a limitation of the network not the iPhone.
That's like saying your 4Ghz PC must be slow because you only connect to the internet via dial-up.

Gizmodo
iPhone Scientifically Rated (Verdict: Great Call Quality)
Wirelessinfo knows what they're talking about when it comes to cellphone calls. They're the Mythbusters of cellphones, pulling out all sorts of scientific equipment to determine whether call quality is good—not just doing a "oh, this sounds good" test. Their results for the iPhone? Best they've seen.
It scores higher on the frequency response test compared to the BlackBerry 8800, Helio Ocean, LG Prada, Nokia N95 and the Treo 750. The audio quality is great as well, as is the send frequency response. The iPhone did have a bit of "side tone", which is the amount that you hear yourself in a conversation.

We came across a potential resource management bug that caused the Email application to close a second after it was opened, regardless of what we did. Shutting the iPhone down and restarting it got around the problem
Some RAM issue?
The kicker, however, is the call audio quality. It is bad. Really bad. We'll have to test it out tomorrow in a stronger signal area, but so far it would rate with some of the worst phones I have tested in the past two years
Dude,
I am an N95 owner. Do you want me to start going over issues with the N95 that has had at least one software upgrade and waiting for the next one. Your posts show how completely over the top in love with Nokia you are. To the point of not being remotely objective. By the way, I am on my 3rd, third, drittene mal, number three, N95. Can't see that happening with an Apple product. So before you post something really biased like you just did, think before you hit the enter key.

I am just quoting something i read. There are many reviews who says the iphone is great and I didnt take issue with that. Why are you so uptight about a bad impression from some reviewer? grow up.

Dude,
I am not trying to pick a fight with you but point out your truly one-sided review, or opinion. The thing is not 24 hours old yet. Your phone quality statement has been debunked by Jools. No one, and I mean no one has said the iPhone is the perfect, error free phone, and for you to mention a memory issue that has not been proven is a bit like jumping the gun and wanting to find fault. I pointed out the Nokia N95 issue and see that you ignored that completely. Biased? I would say so. The iPhone has had good and bad reviews before it even launched, so this is nothing new. It does seem like there are those, you can be included if you like, that seem to want it to fail. I am sure SE and Nokia do, however if it succeeds, it goes to show that Nokia and SE have neglected innovation for the sake of playing it safe with conventional phone designs.
As for growing up, I will start the moment you do.

dude, what is your problem? I thought this is thread is about iphone. Go and take issue with the mobileburn.com reviewer. Mow him down with you so-called "logic" if you dont agree with him. You made yourself a true iphone fanboy by telling me NOT to post any bad impression about iphone.
I for one dont want the iphone to fail but I am just not putting up with the hype that the iphone is the "best" and "revolutionary" phone sweeping aside the rest of the phones in this world.

You seem to take this quite personal, and are very argumentative about something you said, which I pointed out as being biased (my opinion by the way), however I will go slow for you so that maybe we can come to some sort of understanding as in my opinion there is really no need to argue about a phone that neither of us current has.
1. I did not say don't post anything bad about the iPhone. I said it is funny how you have a one-sided myopic (just added) view regarding your posts. The iPhone has been bashed and praised since its inception. So your "additions" are actually moot. Just "seems" (added the seems part to further quantify my reply to your posts. That should make things better now, eh?) a bit biased from your part considering your Nokia "fanboy" (you said it first) stance regarding Nokia products.
2. My post was a backup (not that he needed it) of what Jools said when he debunked your post about the phone quality.
3. Hype or not, no phone has had the present day impact outside of maybe the P800 when it came out. I can not think of a single Nokia that has generated such hype. Sorry if the devotion and dedication to Nokia blinds you, but the fact remains, the iPhone changes the game. It will usher in a plethora of new demands, desires, etc.... from consumers regarding the next generation of mobile media devices (can't really call them phones anymore can we) that will hit the market. How about this. We make a test and see how many copy cat devices hit the market within the next few months that have similar specs as the iPhone. If not, then I am wrong, but if I am correct and I expect to be, you are wrong.

Every mid-end smartphone has similar or better spec than iphone (except for TS). Even my 2 years old N70 has better spec (quantitatively) than iphone. If you are talking about UI, then the prada/htc touch has similar concept. WM has TS and operate with different UI concept (using a stylus instead of finger to poke the screen). So does UIQ3. From sosphication/functionalities, the UI of iphone lags behind WM/S60/UIQ3. From ease of use the verdict is still out whether iphone UI is really that easy to use.
the iPhone changes the game
This is left to be seen. Like you say, it is only 24hrs since the launched. For all we know, iphone may end up like newton after the hype has died down.

I've figured out a good slogan, I wonder would Apple buy it?
