is the mechanical shutter soft or hard?? i actually agree with Sony_a.. the "glass" lens cover is i think useless.. its just to make the back side of the phone look clean, "flat" or something..

Ah sblant my dear boy, I'll have you know I happen to know 'just a little' about Digital Cameras - and would like to have you informed, that the lens cover is not a 'UV protected' piece.
It is a piece of GLASS - and, in fact - PhotoGraphs have been clearer and better contrasted since the removal!
this is no true... remove the lens cover is simply a stupid solution.

putting a lens cover over a mechanical shutter is stupid.. you may say its "stupid" to remove it now coz, hell, it will void any warranties.. Sony should have just placed a mechanical shutter alone than that of a "glass" lens cover over a mechanical shutter..

@sblant
Dude, I use Digital SLR's on a professional level, and so would warrant myself with 'enough' knowledge to know when something is deterring the function of a product!
@dentoters07
Well put, Sony really should have just left a simple exposed shutter - its a HARD material, and wll not just collapse - plus if you need to do an insurance swap or whatever, just stick the glass back in!

aaand..few questons..is it torx 5 or 6 ? and..if i remove it my warranty is gone..i know that SE phones are pretty faulty so i dont want to loose warranty in first months..but...may the lens cover be glued back that service cant recognize it was removed before?

im quite convinced that

engineers have figure out that the lens cover is a better solution then a worse solution.
my vote is; keep the glass

(and if you have a lot of dust, just clean it off with compressed air)
besides, no more 2-years warranty if you remove the glass, (thats the major reason to let it be i think)
