No im sure it wont match that at all. The Samsung is running on OMAP 2430 which has an on board DSP. This clear sound thing isnt even hardware based so its probabaly just a software tweak. Ultimtley it wont be able to match up to a DSP so dont get your hopes up.

I wonder if someday

decides to put a 5 MP camera on a Walkman-series Non-UIQ phone, will AF and/or flash be there or not?

Probably but not for a few years yet. Walkman phones are not meant to have the highest megapixels at current timeline for phones. Im guessing when they get up to 7 or 8 megapixels or more then that will warrant 5mp on the walkmans.

Their past track record is no excuse.
You could say the same thing for Nokia not putting vga video capable cameras or cz branded lenses in non n range phones but now they do right?
Yet another example of SE not keeping up with times.
Nokia have a much bigger range of phones than

but I can only find 1 Nokia clamshell with Auto Focus (7390) which is now listed as an 'older phone' so I guess it's out of production?!? Do you also post on Nokia forums lamenting the lack of A/F clams?

have always made a big deal of the 'dual front' styling of thier camera phones, so with clamshells not having dual front styling, it's not surprising they also lack serious cybershot features like A/F.

The outer media buttons are very unappealing in my opinion. They should get better designers. Although... I do like the idea of 8GB of internal memory with the added option of external memory. That much is appealing, I guess.

Looks quite positive.

Not that positive, looks like the phone no longer has a built in FM receiver.

From GsmArena:
So far, so good - we are quite pleased with the performance of the Sony Ericsson W980. Its exotic features - the FM transmitter and elaborate light effects - give it a distinct taste, while the good user interface makes sure all the basics are covered.
We are, as usual, very pleased with the Walkman music player but the camera is quite a bit of a letdown. Still all in all, the first impressions Sony Ericsson W980 makes are really positive
