Yes but shouldn't debranding allow me to get rid of Telcel's firmware and update my phone via SEUS normally? Or do I need to download and install custom firmwares first?

yes, debranding will get those telcel's stuffs off your phone. and you will be able to update your phone whenever there's an update for your phone through SEUS.

Thanks, tranced. Can you give me an answer on these particular questions though? -- Will I need to install a custom firmware after debranding it or can I just skip this altogether and go straight to SEUS after debranding it?

Does anyone know how I can debrand SE W705u? I used the cda program and started SEUS to update the firmware but it says that I already have the newest firmware. I'm from Norway and my phone has the Nordic firmware

@WinniePooh: you should be able to debrand it by using a w705 generic firmware.
