Im pretty confident that this is not the final performance of the phone so there's NO need to fret. Satio started out really choppy when it first got introduced but it's very smooth right now.

@Prom1
SnoFlake,
SE is not 1/2 Android manufacturers:
SE, HTC, Motorola, Acer, Samsung, etc.
errrrrm where do I say this?
I said that Moto are one of two partner companies for Google on Android (HTC being the other) by which I meant muanufacturers and nothing about SE at all. Verizon have been announced as a strategic network partner.

And to everyone beating SeaLover down on the resolution, that's mean. We all LOVE this design's so his eyes may be strained more than the common phone user.
That said I can see where he's coming from.
Just case SE C905 has 262,144 Colour TFT screen that looks fabulous remember this is on a 2.3-2.4" screen. Not a 4" screen. Also note its using a much smaller resolution: QVGA, and NOT WVGA!
So how will colours look on a 4" screen, using resolution: 480x854, and 262,144 Colours?
That GPU will be under-utilized to really show off its potential. What of shaders, gradients, etc that is the hallmark of mobile games lately? IMO 262,144 Colours is great for a 2.2-2.4" QVGA resolution screen for J2ME games. But for a smartphone with such a highly spec'd CPU with hardware video acceleration, hmm. Maybe
has something down the pipe in Q1 2010.
PS: Oh and for those that have a bad taste of Symbian in their mouth on Satio ... don't worry Symbian-Foundation is working on better UI - I'll post a Youtube video of a user proposal that was featured @ SEE 2009 in the Satio thread.
Thanks @Prom1 !! That's EXCACTLY what i'm tryin to explain to all of us here.If you trust me on photo-art work trust me on this too.I want that phone as much as everyone here but i think i will buy SATIO after today's announcement for the reasons i explained! (i have a w995 and c905 now)

I hope, there won't be any more questions about the screen (maybe except colours
). From SE developer world:
XPERIA™ X10 is Sony Ericsson’s first phone on Google’s Android OS platform. XPERIA™ X10 has a 4 inch 854 x 480 pixel screen with a
capacitive mineral glass touch-screen, fast 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon™ processor, 1GB internal storage with additional storage via microSD™ card, an 8.1 megapixel camera with autofocus, Wi-Fi 802.11g and HSPA at 7.2Mbps download.
With the power and features of the XPERIA™ X10 and the open software platform, developers have a compelling opportunity to create, share and sell applications.

@boiing- Pretty easy to say for an apple fanboy which delivers one phone a year and has a cartload of people working thir ass off on a single phone throughout the year.SE has their Android, Symbian and A*** teams to look after. A 2-3 month announcement-release break isnt bad at all.
What about Nokia? Why doesnt anyone bash them?I dont think even HTC releases their phones as quick.

note: I edited the larger part of the paragraph out to highlight what I was referring to - no context lost

Obviously some of the disappointment here stems from over hyped expectations but guess that's natural in a community such as this. Also must remeber that Moto fundamentally rethought their strategic direction quite some time back 1.5/2 yrs ago and threw all their chips into the Android basket - well it made excellent sense for them given the parlous state they were in, the mess UIQ/Symbian was in and the basket case that is WM. As a result of such a strong commitment to Android they are one of only ywo Google Android partner comapanies in the world (HTC is other of course) and have benefitted from having Google employees assigned to them to assist in the development of thier new range of handsets.
Reading what you posted, SE is not one of only 2/3 Android partners in the world. Samsung already released 3 handsets; equal only to HTC currently. Also partner companies goes beyond manufacturers - it includes providers, chipset makers, etc. So yes you where refering to SE and you where off on stating 1/2+1 "partners". I know what you meant, just highlighting that it was worded wrong as not everyone will be able to infer the same thought you where getting at. Maybe its just me.
However, you ARE right about looking at another iPhone device, and possibly another firmware update with some nice improvements down the pipe. Device should not be out or hyped for another 4-5mths though, Apple still needs to update the pro laptops and high end Mac Pro desktop.
After all the excitement we gotta see what their developer page comes up with. Just remember that Android will be updated and ported over to this unit so its got legs to survive at least 12mths.

Thanks, finally a piece of official info about screen being capacitive. They should really put this info to the white paper. Still, they are pressing real hard on those videos, can't wait to feel how responsive it really is.
One good thing that nobody mentioned so far: looks like we got the front camera. Something that wasn't clear from previous images.

Errr glasses mate - look at sentence above (my eyes are going too)
Also must remeber that Moto fundamentally rethought their strategic direction quite some time back 1.5/2 yrs ago and threw all their chips into the Android basket
The whole para is esentially about Moto's Android strategy
In rertrospect should've been more clearly worded as has casued confusion, for which I apologise.
But trivial point anyway main point is Motorola and HTC are Strtegic Partner Co's for Google SE (and the rest Sammie Dell etc) are not
