Thats an interesting feature! Gotta be honest, not ever had a phone that does that. My old G900 (still one of the best!) which ran UIQ didn't.

It only searches the "name" field in the address book.

its very probable that SE did not find the need to list both the phones at Synaptecs given they are exactly the same. The screens used would be the same too.
