taken another look this morning, and its all very meh. Prefer the galaxy S. Now thats a quality product.

Hmm.. generic plastic Android phone with an old version of the OS, vs a glass and metal construction with groundbreaking antenna design, retina display and the latest version of its own bespoke OS. Yep, that Galaxy S is definitely the quality product...

@Boinng

Well considering 2.2 has only recently been handed out to other manufacturers, would be a little difficult for Samsung to release it with that version hey. Apple would have had the same issue if they were releasing the Galaxy S. So dont kid yourself.

And your other points, benefits for who exactly? I dont care for any of those things. Obviously jj03 does not either. However, you do (it seems)!

Not every one needs/wants an iphone...

You are one who claims this forum and its members have the freedom of speech, and yes, they do. And, as a result, I have seen you criticise those who 'flame' others for their different opinions. You have basically done the same thing to jj03 here, just because he has a different opinion to you. Every one is entitled to their opinion, like you have said plenty of times (not in exact words), so let him be!

I enjoyed the 3GS but was let down by its awful ability to hold a signal at my house when compared to other phones I have on the same network, so Im hoping this new iphone with its supposed groundbreaking antenna design or whatnot will vastly improve the phones ability to get a signal in weak areas, if it does then I can see myself getting the new model

But Apple aren't releasing the Galaxy S, and wouldn't ever face the issues that Samsung (and other Android manufacturers) face, as they've put the investment and time into developing their own OS. Therefore, iPhone 4 comes with a brand new version of an OS tailored for that very device. The Galaxy S is, by contrast, a piece of hardware designed for a previous iteration of somebody else's OS. So even if you like Android and prefer it to iOS, you can already find a better version of it running on the HTC Evo, for example (and soon the Desire and various others). That's a situation which will never befall the new iPhone - or indeed any new iPhone - it will always ship with the latest and greatest.

The post I was replying to made a statement about the relative "quality" of these two phones. Now obviously "quality" is a subjective term, and as it happened I didn't suggest that you, jj03, or anyone else should care about anything whatsoever. You might prefer Android to iOS, as indeed you might prefer plastic to glass and metal construction, or a lower res screen over the retina display - that's your right and you're welcome to it.

Not every one needs/wants an iphone...

Not every one needs/wants a Galaxy S. So what's your point? Why is it ok to point out the qualities of one phone but not the other?

I criticise those who attempt to outlaw different opinions, intimidate posters they don't agree with, and stifle debate - which is actually exactly what you're trying to do now. I've done nothing to jj03 other than answer his post and disagree with the point he was making - and if that's so wrong I don't want to be right!

I'm looking forward to everything in this next version.
The only questions for me now is black or white, but I suspect I will choose white again, and do I go payg again or take a contract. Will have to wait on pricing for that decision.

Shame they didn't announce a 64gb model as that was high on my wish list as 32gb just isn't enough any more it seems.

I also suspect that from 24th June we'll have a dedicated iphone 4 pictures and video topic as it will now hopefully be a worthy contender

So this is pure marketing and production cost decision.

1. Apple's biggest selling baby is the iPad ~ which outsold the iPhone Original, 3G, 3GS all in its own first 30days, 60 days.
2. Reserve the 64GB chips for the iPod Touch 3G and the iPad as those have the majority sales (EVEN if the iPod Touch waned in sales 2 QTR's straight. MissUK is correct it'll get a similar design about 2-3mths after iPhone 4 sales are underway in the first 26/30 countries.
3. Video Chat ONLY on WLAN?! Stupidity of not insulting AT&T their biggest sales partner and their ONLY spectrum partner!! T-Mobile USA's AWS 3G is compatible on only 1 band that this iPhone 4 has - yes it is a quintessimal band device. Vodafone UK, Orange UK, T-Mobile UK, China, Japan, and shoot even Rogers Wireless here in Canada supports the download 7.2 & upload 5.4Mbps data rates .... AT&T has gaarrrrbage bandwidth across the USA and doesn't come close.
4. 64GB SHOULD'VE been in this and will hurt sales in the long rung due to more 720P HD Video recording. Get that Video Chat compatible in upcoming refresh of the iMac, MacBook Pro and even in iChat Video (which already supports 720P with QuickTime X for 1080P clean). Now you're seeing the data bandwidth consumption that Mike Lazaridis of BlackBerry was talking about during WES2010 ! There is a CEO that can answer technical questions about how the device and network will work or don't work together. Jobs should've paired off this release just like he did for the software components of Snow Leopard.

PS: Did you get around to coding an app in Objective-C yet?
I didn't and I'm learning Java just now ... but I now own 2 Mac's and still have an awesome game idea that JUST got a huge spike of ideas from the included Gyro!!!!

After the release if I get enticed enough to purchase one iPhone 4 for myself (not just the wife) then I may JUST get in touch with you to work on something.

The retina display looks great although I was disappointed that Apple felt pressurized to join the mega pixel race and bump up the camera to 5 MP. It would have been much better if they had stayed at 3MP and used the large backside illuminated sensor
