Stuff does get damaged in transit!
Also with those phones quite on demand
Maybe the workers in china are rushing them
Hence damage dents etc

Etaab makes a FINE unbiased view of whats going on - I'm SHOCKED really! But he is intelligent and when not in the heat of the moment makes sound judgement.

iPhone should NOT be damaged so easily in transit; I'll state why.
1. Apple made packaging small to ship more units per plane/freight (be that truck/boat/train), dense packaging, more units less rattle to occur!
2. Apple specifically mentioned better build quality in their ads!

Now the concern is just HOW much worse can this get with Foxconn workers back to work today (a few hours ahead of Greenwich mean time) and now rushing to keep up promised quota with Apple and others, else they don't get paid the agreement amount for that shipment and face loosing production contracts. Yes Hon Hai/Foxconn is NOT the only major OEM player in town.

Right now ... I'd LOVE to know the recyclicability [LMAO this is not a word; recyclability is] of CarbonFibre (Motorola is using it) and just how soon Sony can make an Xperia out of it. As sweet as iPhone 5 is I'm not touching it until a) I know a solid range/assortment of cases are available at retail to protect out of box, and, b) Maps is resolved.

b) Maps: Apple needs to work out a partnership with Nokia directly or indirectly to use data from Navteq - EVEN if at a cheaper price if Apple needs to state its source in fine print and/or that Nokia gets to trumpet it. Apple still has time and engineers to overlay data with their likeness to make it unique. As it stands I have to wait for LAZY FAKTARD's of developers that have no main incentive from Apple to pull an address (which BTW you MUST type in manually!) into Apple's Maps ... then select Pedestrian/Public Transit in order to ROUTE into a 3rd party app that is then launched.

^ Great solution for battery life, cycles etc.

I think you're ALL beginning to witness an Apple OS X fan that liked the seamless integration of iOS get REALLY upset at the distastefulness. The SAD thing about all this garbage Apple is pulling is they will NOT make a change unless sales DROP drastically over 2/3 quarters to resolve this!! BlackBerry 10 or Sony's Android are my only 2 options and 1 I have to wait another 6mths minimum if RIM can FINALLY keep it word over failing 3x already.

It's pretty odd how users are opening there new phones
And finding them dented or scratched though its gotta a
Thing in China where there rushing to get phones out!

The aluminium does scratch easily I've seen a video
Of a Mother and child showing that on Apple Discussions board,
All I can say is I hope that aluminium is replaced by something
More resistant in the 5S otherwise I'm unsure if I'm going to want to
Own something that marks to easily!

That's what I like about polycarbonate on Nokia Lumia phones or even the GS3. If you scratch that material there is no other paint work underneath just same material

being in the design industry for a long time and knowing what materials work for different uses the iphone 5's back is made of anodised aluminium, which is scratch prone, if Apple try to deny this then really they are fools. The bigger fools are the buyers though!

the main majority of damaged ones are generally black iPhones,
ive not seen any complaints on the white one yet!

I think the white one is also hard to get cos ive only seen 3x blacks ones in
phone stores lol I guess the white one again looks alot better aswell that black one
is a fingerprint magnet

Yes they do and sometimes those items go on to the sales floor, such as a loaf of bread or a tin of baked beans.

An expensive electrical item does not unless its something simple like a toaster where a simple plastic knob does not matter if its missing and does not compromise the safety of the item.

But iPhones arriving and only being taken out of their boxes for the first time since leaving the factory when the owner takes it out and it has chips in the metal, hell thats downright poor quality controls by the factory and / or the logistical process of transportation.

Put it this way, if i bought an iPhone 5 and it came out of its sealed box with chips in it, i'd return it straight away for a replacement or refund. No way would i accept a damaged product even if it was merely cosmetic for something so expensive.
