I crop the best focus part from 1020 image and crop/saturate/contrast same part from 808 image. Compare now and comment
You obviously didn't read my post properly. Yes the 808 image is better but the photos were taken with very different exposure times! If you want to compare the quality use the same settings....

^I don't know. The crops practical are identical , no big differences. In two phones stand the same sensor ...... practical

1020 camera has great potential, but unfortunately too bad optics.

actually you are wrong it is not the same sensor. Also i was talking about the settings used to take the photos- difference in exposure time is actually big. Maybe Nokia 808 takes better photos than Lumia 1020 but the 2 photos are not relevant- modify the exposure time for Pureview 808 from 1/100 to 1/885 and the result won't be as clean

I think two sensors are Toshiba manifacture. 808 sensor little biggest , but this not important. The main differences in two phones are lens quality and image postprocessing. Wait for more compares , maybe will has 1020 with better "Zeiss" lens. I don't know how these Zeiss lenses

No no , I ask this

This's not photos, only crops. As all shot by 1020 is terribe thing. Shame Nokia and Zeiss.
For me two crops are with similar detail , but real sensor quality can look on Portrait or poor light.

I know these are crops. Already downloaded the full res and inspected them.
Anyway, I see the left one as clearly better. Sharper and better contrast.
As to edge quality, it is clearly a bad lens on this 1020. As plenty of photos from 1020s not having such extreme edge and corner softness.
If taking these two images overall I would take the 808's one because the edge detail. But talking about the center of the image, the 1020 takes this one.

Here 1:1 crops. 1020 to the left, 808 to the right. All the crops taken from the center of the photo. Both photos at 34MP, 808 shot at super fine (actually 808's file a bit bigger than 1020's)
And note that the 808 had 3 stops SS advantage! And this is more in the low light photography than shooting a landscape at day. And still 1020 pulled ahead with less exposure value and no use of OIS at this SS.
Anyone who thinks that the 1020 is
not significantly better than the 808 for all sorts of sea, city, and landscapes must be out of his damn mind.
The edge nasty thing with the 1020 over here is a lens defect. There are 808s with this flaw as well. Also N8s.
Although Carl Zeiss are professional and about quality optics, but pulling perfect results by mass production for such a lens handling such resolution is not an easy job.

Congrat Bono for new cameraphone. Nice color reproduction , no noise. Good camera as general.
