Thanks Maratonmannen

Anyone else have a bug whereby when you set the Battery Care function to stop charging at 90%, it just charges right past it to 100%?

I always set a custom interval (after 10pm) from when I put it on charge until 10/15 minutes before the alarm and it works perfectly.

It's been about 2 weeks since official release. about a week or more since most of you fellas have gotten it.

have you guys noticed any major issues? I haven't seen anything online like last year with the VII.

I did notice one person in Japan had an issue with their camera freezing and requiring a restart.

also goldenface, i'm waiting for those beach pics

Have you tried using the 90% limit? See if you have the bug too?

I set to the 90% limit it works fine as describe. How about you try updating all applications , then close all applications , off and wait at least 30 seconds and turn on and see if the glitch persist?
Also, I found out that this phone reboot very fast. Fastest xperia rebooting time 🤣🤣😅😅

@Maratonmannen

Thanks for checking the battery care function. Strange it's not working on mine.

not bad for nearly 0.75km away. How are you enjoying the photos overall?

I am so tempted to order mine but I am a bit concerned about 5G connectivity. I've been seeing people in the US having issues connecting to 5G. my current carrier ATT will probably block me since they like to block phones they haven't expressly whitelisted. I have seen some people successfully use ATT (LTE only) but who knows for how long? Tmobile will let me connect but the VIII only supports one 5G band and they are slowly phasing out their LTE network over the next year or two. If I can't connect to 5G on Tmobile and I'm blocked on ATT, I'll essentially have an expensive, but beautiful, point and shoot camera.

I will wait a bit and see if updates will change things for users in the US. It really sucks that Sony pulled out of the US market.

I am impressed with the photos overall. I need a day of dedicated shooting.

It's a shame you're having these issues, if only things were simpler.

Speaking of bands.

1 VIII doesn´t have support for N75 / N76. Both will be used for 5G in Sweden in the future. I don´t know when the future is here, but this may be the last Japan phone for me.

Japan SIM-free 1 VIII has support for these bands according to Sony Japan:
n1, n3, n5, n28, n40, n41, n66, n77, n78, n79, n257

Wherever I go now I have 5G.
My carrier uses the N78 band.

It's definitely a pain in the butt to have to navigate these issues.

VIII supports N41 and N77. N41 is used by T-Mobile in the US and N77 is used by AT&T.

I have not read of anyone being able to connect to 5G on either carrier though. It seems that two things may be true, which is a result of Sony no longer selling phones in the US.

1) Sony is blocking these 5G bands in their firmware updates because they do not have agreements with carriers.
2) The carriers (AT&T and T-Mobile) are blocking the bands via policy files when you connect to their network because the VIII is an unsupported device.

I think point (1) is less likely but could be true. I have seen people on XDA unlock their bootloader and use root to manually unlock the 5G bands on the VI. I have not seen it successfully done on the VIII and who knows if that would get you banned from a carrier network for circumventing policy files.

It has been about 2 weeks since the phone has officially been released. I think I recall there have been 1 or 2 updates since? I will wait a bit and see if any one in the states has had luck getting connected to 5G. Honestly, I currently only connect to 4G LTE and I am ok with that. But I am a bit concerned AT&T will block me from their network entirely if I use the VIII. Decisions decisions!

Why can't you make it easier for your fans, Sony!? WHY!?
