SE seems to take down the update service for K700.
The heavy traffic from esato reader (including me) might be the cause

Hi since the update service is unavailable for alot of people...
can anyone share this update tool including the latest firmware version ?
I'd be happy to allow my server for download... (1 GB Backbone)
Sincerely,
baco@pcfreaks.com (pcfreaks = GameServer company) ^^

The interesting thing is that it will only be so long until the part of the update software that lives on the PC is hacked and will allow us to pick the firmware to install or impersonate another firmware installed on the phone therefore allowing updating with different (read unbranded, other language, etc.) firmware.
This should go in interesting directions over the next few months once the serivice is fully online and people have had a chance to poke into it a bit -

@dmgoss
That is a question you should ask all P900 owners here, the update service for P900 has been up and running quite a while now.
Personally i donīt think itīs that easy to impersonate an unbranded phone with a certain language but hey, more complicated things than that has been cracked before.
Iīd hate to see SE shutting down this service due to abuse though..
Thatīs one thing I loved with Siemens, the free online updating thingie!

I think that DCU = Docking Cradle [Cable ?] USB and that DSS just translates to Docking Sync-Station. There must be some extra electronics in the DSS. Can someone open their DSS 20 / 25 and try to use a mulitmeter to sort out the pin cfg.? I'll try go get a hold of one tomorrow and have a peek inside.

When I plug DSS-25 to my WinXP machine for the firs time (without any phone on it), Win XP detect it as DSS-20 (yes DSS-20, soI think both DSS have same electronics inside) and ask me for driver.
So DSS might have something like electronic controller inside, so WinXP PnP can detect it.
I have sync cable for many portable (Phone, Pocket PC, iPod, Digital Camera), most of them are just a cable and Windows cannot detect it without when it not connect to the device.
What happen if you plug sync cable without the phone?

No solution, you have to wait untilK700 update service is officially announce. Or ask your nearest service center.
SE took down the k700 update service since Friday.
BTW, the chance that you successfully upgrade you K700 is not much, SE seem to allow only small fraction (depend on IMEI) of K700 to be updated using pre-launce update service
