Hrm.

Once upon a time the slated release date of the S700i was mid-September.

I was told by the good folks at the Sony Ericsson booth in Glorietta that the S700i would be available by December.

Around this time in September, Smart puts up the S700i as part of their available plans (only to be told that they're waiting for units to arrive.)

Then it was announced that the official release date of the S700 would be October 7.

Semicon and Memo Express claims they will have units available by the last week of October.

I called Semicon this week and they said they're expecting units to arrive by the second week of November.

Another friend of mine called the same branch and was told they would have units available by next week.

However, I'm quite certain that, despite all this conflicting information, we were all communicating in one and the same language. English.

Perhaps I must rephrase. "Babbeddi babbedi wikka wikka bom S700i blech blech mambowaggubombom?"

Don't bother answering. I think I already know what y'all are gonna say.

Now, here's "food" (translate: cash) for "thought" (translate: S700i).

Grey market dealers have the unit for prices ranging from the forgivably expensive (37k up) to downright ridiculous (approaching 40k).

In anywhere between one or two weeks wait, official suppliers will have units available at "official" prices (at the 34k range), which I'm sure will run out pretty fast. (I better camp out overnight in front of Semicon.)

Then there are the guys at Virramall.

(Psst...hey kid...c'mere...ya want a shiny new phone, kid? It's reeeeal cheap, kid. Best buy in town.)

Now, what's a man with 40k to do?

a) Wait two more weeks and join the small army of Sony Ericsson fans ready to tear Semicon's walls down?

b) Succumb and buy a 37k+ unit with little less than a year's warranty and no after-sales service?

c) Buy it from the guy who flashed his phone from underneath a ratty old trenchcoat?

Choices, choices...

I'm in the same boat as you man. I decided to wait it out because I just wasn't willing to sacrifice potential long term headaches for the sake of short-lived exclusivity. Besides, at 34k (supposedly) from official dealers, you still won't see too many people toting s700i's around.

Thanks.

But the flash presentation only made me want the phone even more.

What would truly make me happy is seeing the bugger on Semicon's website. Bada boom.

I've called both Memo Express and Semicon and they will inform me when the S700i will hit the shelves.

Once this happens, I'll let y'all know, because not more than fifteen minutes after that blessed phonecall, I will, without fail, have that bleeding phone in my clammy, trembling, ever-loving hands.

Heh.

Haha.

Mwahaha.

MWAHAHAHAHA!

BWAAAAHHAAAAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAAA!

Time for my medication.

like, other owners first said....its damn smaller than you think...the keypads are nice and the swivel is of good built/quality. the only problem is that the frame seems to get scratches easily and browsing pics and files seems to be slower than the k700i....still, im lovin it!
thanx dude
