That particular term was intended for purely academic reasons!

Who coined the term 'Old Guard'? What is the difference between the 'Old Guard' and veterans?

I think 'opress' is a rather strong term to use, and a tad uncalled for. I just don't see this 'opression' that you speak of.

id be interested in seeing some of the oppressive thread could you post some links as i dont see a lot of this myself but its easy to miss stuff as there are times when this place has hundreds of active thread.
as i said earlier i think 99% of the time people get along and dont even notice if someone is new old or whatever.
but meths you must have seen some stuff that has made you take up this strong view point so if you could show us some, it may help me to see were your coming from cheers

I would be interested in seeing an example of this 'oppressive behaviour' too. I agree with slattery69; as far as I can see, most people, for the most part, do get along very well indeed.
