Gsmarena strangely enough posted an article about Sony 1 day prior to this announcement, which tells me they are doing some stuff about Sony.

hope there are some surprises...
i hope everything XJ mentioned will be improved. definitely hope heat control is improved so there are no issues recording 4K and using the camera long term. hope there are some improvements to cinemapro. i hope all the stuff in xperia 1 pro get integrated into xperia 1m2 as standard.

technically it's 2 bigger sensors.
1/2.6 -> 1/1.7
1/3.4 -> 1/2.6
