I'm not a leftie but when I use my phone one handed, I keep the phone in my left hand, so it is a nuisance. Whichever way you look at it, it doesn't make sense.
Fast port has more functions than just headphone connection so a jack alone can not be a replacement for it.

I think you guys should treat yourself to some cool BT headphones if the fastport proves to be an issue for you. Take advantage of the wireless stereo.

On my W350i the fastport is low on the left side. You get used to typing around the fastport being in the way, but I suppose there is no reason why you should have to. It really says something about SE designers if they arent capable of designing equally for everyone (without disabilities at all). I have bluetooth headphones, and I do use them. But I still had to shell out 50 GBP for them. If you buy a phone from a manufacturer which prides itself on having good quality products, you dont expect such elementary and stupid design problems. TBH, the only one I can forgive for it is the designer of the W350i, as the bottom is rounded to match the flip and so cant have any fastport connectors obstructing it.

I have a BT headphone which I happily use at home but I usually use cable outdoors as I listen to FM radio as well. It's not only about music, SE is being cheap and trying to cut corners, that's why no more desk stand. I haven't seen anyone mention the fact that with the P990, we got the cables such that you could charge the phone and have a headphone or a USB connection at the same time, on the P1 the power plug does not have that piggy back connection.
Now why is SE going backwards in all features where they should be improving.

I read somewhere that this is only due to the phone being developed/made by Sagem and not by Sony Ericsson.
Personnally, I would also prefer 3.5mm jack and miniUSB in front of Fastport, and either on either top or bottom rather than on the side.
There is absolutly nothing you can do with Fastport that wouldn't work with miniUSB and 3.5mm connectors AFAIK, and even if some may not care, and it might not effect wether they buy a phone or not, most would still prefer these connectors in front of the fastport if they could choose, I guess. Absolutly don't understand SE's choice here, apart from being maybe easier for them to include on the board, the same thing goes for the fastport on the side, it is solely due to convinience from their part. But I hope that the new manager will actually introduce some changes as far as the fastport is concerned as well.

Just my 2cents:
Mini USB is much less technically stable connection than fastport, which is very strong.
And you can easily connect any headphones through the minijack converter from fastport.
There are many more important things than that...
