I watched the video of the X1 yesterday on YouTube, and WOW!! What a beautiful device, i was also shocked at the lag though, i like how it is written XPERIA in the Today Screen, realy hope they fix the lagging, the HTC TyTN i had for a few days was faster than that at changing from portrait to Landscape.
This is one device thats going to be WAY out of my budget so il just be looking to just have a quick play on it.

I not too impressed by the X1. It looks identical to the performance of the TyTn2. I for one will wait till the benchmarks are out before considering this device.

Glad y'all liked the vid. The SE rep who demo'd it was awesome. Super pro - did a great job. Got some more time with the phone at an SE briefing. Keyboard is nice. Buttons maybe a tiny bit smaller than I'd like, but only just a little ... well spaced ... offset like a real keyboard (not in a straight grid like some HTC smartphones). Buttons are metal and have a beveled surface, so there's a raised edge on each key which helps tactile feedback. The device is heavy - has that "luxurious heft" to it. Almost too heavy, but not really - it more feels like a Mercedes Benz instead of a Honda, if you know what I mean. Solid, heavy, luxury. Was told it's coming out in the US before anywhere else. Also won't be another Xperia-branded device anytime soon but it is a brand, and not just one phone, as SE has said all along.

why are people shocked by lag?

you do realise they are '''protos''', and the phone isnt being released for another 5 months or so. Yes, there may be lag when its released, though i highly doubt it will be like it is now.....

I find it funny in the link above how they say its aimed at the US market, so all the Americans reading th article ask for CDMA! Don't they know CDMA is widely considered to be backward technology and that the rest of the world is going or has gone GSM? Do they not know that SE gave up on CDMA several years ago?

People are shocked by "lag" as they've seen that the TyTn2 had the "lag" even after release which is irritating and not what you expect from a 400 pound device. They're scared the same thing "might" happen with the X1.

Time is not an issue about implementing the drivers, its about paying qualcomm for the use of the 3D hardware. IMO they should have already implemented it. The last few months before launch in the development cycle is all about optimization and region testing. Very rarely are new features added last minute. So we pray that the "lag" is not due to missing drivers but a problem with optimization.
