i used to think that way but wouldn't it be better to have a great display that looks like the images are painted on your screen? it really made me envious how other displays look better without the color and contrast shifting when viewed from different angles. of course, this is just a matter of preference but you know, sony charges premium prices so i think giving us a cheap-looking display comparable to those chinese counterfeits is a little disheartening. i still don't understand why they prefer those panels over IPS or other displays that appear superior. if only sony could provide us advantages like lower power consumption, longevity, or better outdoor legibility.

and i really hope nobody comes here saying the stupid argument that smaller viewing angles are intended for privacy. of course not. you can still read texts or have an idea of the image being shown on a display when viewing it from an angle with all the reduced contrast and shifting colors.

Both are equally loud but HTC one is better.

this one's already been posted, too.

not even sure that screen test is being done on a retail version - also why did he not do the test in landscape

My point really is if these people are going to attempt a test between devices and post it online they need to do more than just post a 3 minute youtube video - it really is pointless in my opinion and and is seriously questionable and that guys presentation and voice is annoying

anyway today is the official day of the Z1 release and availability in the UK - we will soon find out about screen quality from actual owners, looking forward to it

Agreed. Comparisons of the screens under idiotic angles is just mad and pointless.
And taken out of the arse.

Upon reading the review from unleashthephones.com I am really sold with this phone. It's my 1st time to read a very postive review on an Xperia product. "Sony has finally built a thoroughly modern Android smartphone with a beautiful design, premium materials, quality components, top-notch performance, class-leading imaging and a well-thought-out software stack. It doesn’t just represent the best of Sony; it represents the best of the mobile industry and gives the HTC One a run for its money. With the Xperia Z1, you no longer need to put up with Windows Phone in order to have a brilliant camera in your smartphone. Sony is well and truly back at the top of their game."

I am now planning to sell my iPhone 5 to buy it when it arrives here in the Philippines. I sold my iPhone 4s to buy an Xperia S but i was not satisfied with it so I bought iPhone 5 as my primary phone and the Xperia S as my back up. Xperia S was just too late when it comes to specs. But now Sony is ahead of the competition.

I just hope that they would not release another phone to replace the Z1 after 6 months. They should upgrade their phones annually to not put off customers. I like Apple's strategy of updating their products once a year so consumers would know when to upgrade. I hope they release 1 phablet, 1 full size premium phone, 1 mid size premium phone with specs like the full size phone and a midrange phone. And for tablets a 10 inch and 8 inch one.

From what I read on this Forum, I expect 2 flagships a year from Sony for the foreseable future. This means that the next one should be in approx 6 month.

This should not put off clients IMO: all phone makers will relase phones in the future, and future phones will always have better specs than cirrent ones. This is a fact. Now, knowing this, I think one should make his purchase decisions based on his needs and the phones available at that time:
- If one needs a phone and is satisfied with a current flagship, there are good chances that the phone will still work well in 6 month time, so i would advise to buy it.
- If one is not in a hurry and not completely satisfied with the phones available, he should wait until he is in a hurry or is satisfied with the phones.
- If one is more driven by hype and always want the latest models, then it is more expensive but the only way to be satisfied is to buy all the new models. The good thing is that after 6 month one can still get some money from the previous phone by selling it. However, I am concerned with security. With classic hard drive you can delete personal data quite securely. With flash memory, I heard it is impossible to delete data in places that reached the max number of write cycles. Anyone that can shed some light here is welcome.
