in my case 8MP has no use because I will always reduce it in the option to just 2MP.
Why?
My PC monitor is 1600x1200 which means 2MP is already optimal and
8MP won't make the image better or sharper and it's just a waste of space.

thats not like that even you can resize VGA size to 2mpx pic size but there is no real quality. But if you resize the 8mpx sic you definitely get the sharpness. So don't think like that!

There's no difference in image quality between 2MP and 1,000,000PM if viewed in a big 1600x1200 monitor. although you can zoom with the later
realistically, 3.2MP or 5MP is enough for me. But ofcourse i'm not complainin about 8MP
