the iPhone 4 or even the Htc One S are the most audiophile phones out there and they are even better than many portable audio gears including most of the Sony Walkman series that carries an S-Master amplifier.
An amplifier or technology (Clear audio) doesn't make any difference by itself. DAC is important but also the impedance through headphones output. Sony is actually offering products with many audio technologies but they need to fix their headphones output and stop limiting volumes levels.
Another thing that they need to fix is gapless reproduction.

That's something I just can't agree. Iphone has many years to go before it can match the sound quality of Sony Walkman Z/F etc. Sony Walkman Z can come close to the most niche audiophile portable gear in terms of sound quality. Iphone/Galaxy S3 are not even close to Walkman E series and such.
Anyway, who is ready for Xperia Z/ZX ?

For February 680€ is justified, but mid March & 680€? Ridiculous, because APQ 8064 will get beaten up by Cortex A-15 chips from Nvidia & Samsung. Sony needs to price Yuga 50€ below SGSIV to compete, and by mid March SGSIV will already be announced. 600€ is justified for early 2Q, but not a cent higher.
