@HOBBS: I'll be speculating but my guess is that it indicates your 3G signal strength for your particular cell. I was at Obs Fest on the weekend and got "70%", at my office it fluctuates between "65%" and "90%" but in Three Anchor Bay/Green Point I only get about "60%". Have to say MTN's data speeds are way faster than Vodacom.

Okay i have done some asking around about the MTNZone, and found the following from an MTN pre paid user...

"For those that dont know, MTN has introduced new discounts for MTN to MTN voice calls based on your location and time of day. Prepaid users only. So if your cell info display shows MTNZone 75% that means you will get 75% discount to another MTN phone number. Dial *135# for more info"

Anyone feel like checking it out and commenting (my mtn sim expired)

For MTN (ProCall120 package)

Nokia N95 (R 799.00 pay-in)
*R 309.00 pm x24
Once off cost:
SIM: R 135.00
Connection: R 99.00

Includes: itemised billing of R17,89 and CLI of R7.59
Extras: with 1GB memory

The new 8GB version

R 309.00 pm x24 (2199,00 pay-in)
Once off cost:
SIM: R 135.00
Connection: R 99.00

Includes: itemised billing of R17,89 and CLI of R7.59
Extras: with 8GB memory

Not bad price difference.Just the R1400 payin difference which is about the price of an 8GB memory card.So I say you getting that extra 64mb of RAM free.Nice One.

@ Hobbster,
Ya that was my concern too. Details are still a bit spartan at this stage though.
To use a common eBay adage: 'If it's too good to be true...'

Is falcon still bowled over by his newly acquired phone?

@ Gola
Nice bro! i still need to see N81 upfront.
The N81 has a LED Flash but it doesn't have AF. The only other diff between N81 and N81-8GB is the Colours. The N81-8GB only comes in Cocoa Brown colour, also the normal N81 supports up to 32GB MicroSDHC memory cards, we should see 16GB MicroSDHC from Toshiba next month and 32GB from Toshiba in mid 08.

@ gola,
The N81's camera is its achilles' heel; no A/F (so it's not just that does this retrogressive omission...) but there is a flash..

Here's quite a good review of it:
http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n81_8gb-review-180.php

The very bulky Samsung G800 with its optical zoom is on sale here now. Saw one at the local O2 shop, but no chance to fiddle with one. Looks like a bigger brother of the LG Shine, ie. chrome surrounds, mirrored display etc.
