OMG, I can't believe someone can "read between the lines" to the fact that he can turn SE's smart way of allowing WiFi to be turned ON EVEN on FLIGHT MODE to become SE's WiFi ONLY ALLOWED TO BE TURNED ON WHEN 3G/GSM IS OFF...

@ jjjimmy, you'd better go for proper English lessons

There is a press release by the Sony Ericsson marketing department for the new handphones.

However, there is no mention of a launch date for the P990i and M600i by Mr Jan Wäreby, Corporate Executive Vice President, Head of Sales and Marketing, Sony Ericsson.

well ill tell you this, my 8125 i far suprierior to my 910 and , from what im seeing superior then the 990 aswell. These devices can add changes by rom updates which leave limitless software addons. And video and audio support is supieror aswell. The overclocking tool allows me to view a level of encoded divx a frame rates that my 910 simply could not handle and also the game. Big difference, the 8125 can render game faster and hella more detailed then the 910. I hvent seen anything or the 990 or the 910 bsides the rally game that comes pre loaded on the 910. Which is already ecplised on the 8125 . Simply put it im aloyal sony fan and loved symbian but man , i must admit its jut not able to compete with the apps and power of ppcs. And with microsoft push mail coming out man the market is gonna get tighter. I have seen some rpg on my ppc that look like they could be ps1 games . I lvoe symbian but they need to step it up and looking from the specs the 990 is not that machine. I used to hate the online xpirence on my 910 even with opera mini it wasnt full. but opera 8 on the ppc and wifi over edge is simply a treat ,man coming from gprs standard. lol if i were you guys, use a ppc if your a pwer user. There simply no comparison in my efforts to justify symbian anymore besides the none crashing instance which i mut give credit due . Symbian never crased on my . PPC is well windows lol.

That's exactly why P990 supports almost all forms of push email + has a 'stable' keyboard to comfortably be able to email, etc, etc, etc... (not trying to get into whole issue of what people think of the keyboard, cause I know what people thought of the 910 keyboard).

What's your point? P990 comes with Opera 8, WiFi, UMTS and landscape web-browsing. Agreed that the p910 was not the best online experience, but what exactly are you identifying as a problem on the P990 that your PPC does better?

Rblover69: Man, you have to remember that Symbian requires a FOURTIETH (okay, so I sucked a number outta my thumb... I'm betting it ain't far off!!!) of the resources of PPC and windows mobile to do exactly the same tasks!!!
' And the P990 will be the Symbian phone with the largest working-RAM space yet released. In addition there's the more powerful CPU and all the co-processing / hardware-acceleration for Java, video, sound, etc.
' Now let's try something here - and try be objective... Think of the more / most complex and powerful applications built for the P900 and P910. Now realise that each of these is able to run on the P900 - which has 16MB working-RAM, of which only 8MB is actually available after boot-up. Now think - the P990 will have 64MB RAM. Just how much more powerful and complex an application does this one little change allow for??!? This one difference alone should be an obvious clue to anyone paying attention at just how much more powerful the device will be!

' Now let's go back to the argument about PPC over Symbian due to applications... Hmm???? <VBG>

' All I can do is chuckle and rub my hands in greed and desire as I wait for my P990i!
' MuhahahahahAAAAAA!

jjjimmy: What adnhk said... WIFI can be used whilst in "flight mode" but isn't limited to that. In fact, part of the selling point SE is trying to make of the device is the ability to use both WIFI and 3G / GSM networks without interruption as you move around using software management... Obviously this would NOT be possible were WIFI available only if / when the phone transceiver were disabled. No? <winks>
' Oh. And this is but one example of a misconception of yours - now hopefully put right... You need to jump to conclusions less readily mate!

' ~Moi

hi,
i am a doctor and used my p910i a lot and one day it was stolen and i am using a basic phone till i get hold of a smart phone.
some points about p910 that i dint like was its key board whic i damaged twice when i carried it in my pant pocket.
other than this there i faced no other problem... at times i loved to have some programs in it which i had seen in s60 ..... but could never find it... another problem was the absence of alaram function in the switched off mode....
in ability to record calls...

the best thing about this handset was its stability.... i could open umpteen number of programs and no trouble....

this is what i fear in p990....will they correct the problems mentioned above...
there are stories that the operating system is not stable....

and ofcourse we will have to wait for sometime till all the programs are released....

the cost will definetly be high and the programs might cost more...

I am getting more and more sceptical about the P990, a mate of mine got the Nokia N80 yesterday and whilst I like touch screen I have to admit that is one nice device, going back to a favourite moan of mine the N80 feels very well made not a single flimsy item on it and they used metal in its construction!!!! Nokia are taking note of what their customers are telling them about high value devices I sincerly hope will be doing the same so these things cost a fortune make them look feel like they do!!!!!!!!!!

@Nitro Fan and (zendilar)

you've not seen or touched a production quality device. If you don't like the specs or the proto, don't buy P990. More for us to buy!
