I just wish they had put in a 3.5mm jack instead of that horrible SE adaptor.

Hopefully A 3.5mm headphone and usb charging/data connection will be standard across all phones in the next few years as has been rumoured! the fact that when I plug my N95 into the usb lead on my PC it actually drains power at a great rate of knots as oppose to charging the device is shocking!!

So OLD SCHOOL

No problem as I use my DS970 & DS980 BT stereo headset. Stunning sound from both & when one runs out of battery I'm straight onto the other (just charge both each day )

Regarding charging via USB with the Nokia.

The W960i has no such problem. Last week I was connected to the PC purely by USB cable streaming music to my BT headsets all day & using the phone as a 3G connection for the PC and it maintained full battery all day!!!

Even had backlight set to permanently on so I could see album/artist info (but not visualisations as they are disabled streaming audio via BT)

I know that !! But 3.5mm IS old now & why be wired when you can use BT headsets, the latest of which can even take your own plugs (DS200/220 I think). The sound quality from the 970/980's are great & you would have to go high cost Shure type plugs to get better.

(PS. I wasn't saying 3.5mm is OLD SCHOOL compared to fastlink connector!! but to wireless BT)

Bluetooth audio is the way to go! As for sound quality, sure the specs on Nokia MAY be better, however, in practice, most people play it by ear (no pun intended) and the Walkman phones sound better. If you don't like it, go to the Nokia forum and hang out there instead of thread-crapping.

UIQ is by far the most stable OS I've used, I had my P1i for 2 months and only had to restart it twice because I was making a full backup.

And yes, I will be getting the W960, probably within the month.

He's a fellow UIQer (P1i) so don't think its Nokia trolling. Like most people who spend a load of money he's justifying his P1i over a W960i. It's one on the reasons I skipped the P1i as I knew I would much prefer the W960i & couldn't justify 2 new phones in one year.

Personally their both great with only the external design & music players of any significant difference. You can easily/cheaply add 8GB to the P1i now.

Fair enough, but he's been bashing the poor phone for a while now...

I've gone through ... 5 or so phones this year (past 6 months actually), S60 and several WM phones. So far, UIQ has been the most stable and, while a bit higher in price, best in quality.

Walkman phones do sound better, just because the sound is adjusted by the software, the hardware doesn't really change the sound at all, it's mostly for show on the specs lists...

As a side note, I love my DS200 headset, granted, the battery lasts about 5 hours of non-stop music, but that's a trade-off for not having a wire wrapped around myself all the time.

Im not bashing it at all infact im tempted to get it even though I have a P1!

I am simply venting my fustrations at the fact that SE have yet again put out a good handset that will no doubt sell well but should have been more feature heavy to keep in line with the competition. The way its price is falling getting a w960 may seem too tempting even if only my sole reason is for a normal keypad and 8gb flash memory.

Im old school SE fellas right from the T68 but ive also had my fair share of Nokias and I just think that SE shot themsevles in the foot by using UIQ 3.0 in this phone seeing as we wont see anything higher than that till perhaps q4 08 (p5).

The only thing which concerns me is the battery life. Whats the quality like though?

If I had more patience I might have waited for the W960 and not got the P1 but I was too keen to get my mits on it. Still CPW have them 350 sim free so im sure by Feb/March it should be down to £300

My first ever phone was the rubber backed T68

It took a while for me to get on the mobile phone wagon!

Still love the design of that phone (the original grey/rubber, not sky blue one).

Remember paying £179 on VF contract which was a lot of money for me then.
