May have found the dimensions of the 5.2in device on the fcc. A new model appeared PY7-96946K and after a quick check it seems that PY7-29752M has been changed to PY7-96946K:
Change in ID Request Letter-FCC ID: PY7-96946K
To whom it may concern,
We, Sony Mobile Communications Inc., request to apply for a new FCC ID as established in 47CFR 2.933(b) for currently approved device.
Per 2.933 (b)
1. The original identification is FCC ID: PY7-29752M
2. The original identification grant date is 08/19/2016.
3. The equipment is electrically identical with no change in de sign, circuitry and construction.
4. The original test results are applicable and representative.
5. External photos, label and label location are included in this application.
Here are the dimensions from the fcc docs of the device:
Overall (Length x Width): 146.4 mm x 71.9 mm
Overall Diagonal: 162.4 mm
Display Diagonal: 131 mm (5.157 inch ~ 5.2 in)

Perhaps Sony will announce 3 devices like last year. The standard, compact and the premium version. We already know about x compact and xperia xz/xr but nothing on the premium version

Could there be a Z5P successor with 4K screen, S830 and 6GB RAM, next year at MWC?

can't wait for Sony's announcement next week. Looks like XZ will be the replacement for the aging Z1. Metal at the back will be preferred since I'm using magnetic car holder.
Most ferrous metals are magnetic, but aluminum is not.

I really hope there is a true groundbreaking USP and a very fast release schedule.
From memory, the last time Sony had a long period of seemingly uninteresting releases was between Arc and Z. I remember the perception of Z was that it was Sony finally stepping up to the plate with a leading device (don't remember if there was a world first USP though).
The time before that was the emptiness leading up to the X5, X10 and variants.
Looking at the tailing off from Z3 to Z3+ to Z5 and the completely uninteresting current X series(sales numbers, tech blog reviews and innovation level back me up in calling it a tailing off), could we be seeing another hero device (a la X10, Z)?
Looking forward to seeing what happens in a few days.

So this is aluminium metal like iPhone ? It's not magnetic then. I don't want to attach the metal plate at the back of the phone. Arghhh.
