^the main problem with the zl is that it was release at the same time with its brother, XZ
And ppl were getting hype about the waterproof XZ rather than the ZL, that is why I said the zl is unpopular..... My mistake, sry
should say that it is unpopular compare to the XZ

9.6 billion is a good figure indeed. LG sold 12 million smartphones yes but unlike Sony, they are not a 100% Android company. They make some non android smartphones which account for about 20% of their total smartphone sales. So LG's total Android sales would be around the same as Sony. Same goes for Lenovo, ZTE, Huawei, HTC etc.
I would say 9.6 BILLION is AMAZING!!

20% of 12 million smartphones equals 2.4 millions, which means LG sold 9.6 million Android smartphones... same as Sony... that's if the 20% is 100% accurate as I believe it's just an estimation

Anyway, 9.6 million is good indeed and Sony actually did a good job in the Mobile sector along with some other sectors they did better than last year... not all sectors but some major and important sectors...

Me and most of us waned more, but it's already hard for Sony to do so in just 1 year with their limited budget... so they did a wonderful job of increasing all these sectors and selling all these devices while they have this financial situation...

Kaz is in the right way for sure, he just needs more time...

In Kaz we trust

Its a little bit late but .....Congratz Sony
I have to say they made a big improvement this quarter since the last quarter report also included the sales of their building as well to cover the losses, but this quarter they are actually making profit
Congratz Mr Kaz

This is a rumours thread. Why everything around Sony should be discussed here, when there are specific threads for different subjects?

Not sure why some people here resent me, when I do sometimes post good posts every once in a long while - but that's just them being silly

I kind of get the impression that over the past 6 months or so that Sony has joined the top tier of devices. People that are non-Sony fans or other people, that sometimes I would refer to as 'non-technical' people, are even aware of Sony now thanks to the Xperia Z joining the likes of the (dare I say it) iPhone range, the top tier HTC range, the top tier Nokia-Windows Phone camera-orientated range and the Samsung Galaxy Sx range. Is Sony aiming to surpass some of these with the Honami and to become top of this top tier range? Is this manageable for Sony with the Honami?

Sorry to come back to the Honami anouncement

Following on the idea of possible accessories, do the Sony Ericson fans here know if SE ever released a shutter grip for phones?

I found this on google for iphone, it looks cheap, and the guy on the picture does not even use the grip to take the pic...

I hope Sony would create one, as when you want to use it with the addon lens as a real camera for travel/sightseeing, it would be convenient and increase battery life. However i hope it would look less geeky and that it can actually fit the hand.

Any thoughts?

Sony made $4 billion with 9.6 million units while LG made $3.1 billion with 12.1 million.
In Q4 2011 average selling price for Xperia smartphones was $160, this Q it's $400. The TV division is also returning profit after 12 quarters.
