Firmware branding can be fixed, but the physical if very Boldly done - pun intended - will be a pain in the arse.

The software is all the same regardless of provider, it's only the themes that are different, unless they have locked out certain apps, like Orange branded BB's don't come with BB map's. If you delete the Vendor.xml file located in RIM's program files and delete all vendor tags in BB.alx of the software on your PC it will open all vendor themes on the bb so you can have O2's if you desire or China mobile etc, the only branding that remains on a BB, is the start up/shut down and as Reg mentioned the startup up screen of the browser on occasion!

In short there isn't any arduous or costly time consuming process to go through, just Options>Theme and change too BB Dimension Zen (presuming it is preloaded) and hey presto bye bye Voda!

Maybe not!! If you can trust cnn.cn you can buy an unbranded bottom cover for just $4.99+p&p here

which is far easier than trying to get one for a Curve!!

That is the homepage you're refering too. Once you goto the BlackBerry mobile site and bookmark it in there you get the option to set to Homepage.

NOT true, not entirely. Every vendor has their BIS setup to auto send provisioning browser links (ie AT&T has XM Radio, AT&T Mall, etc. While Rogers has Do More). Furthermore, they're specific firmwares also have preset applications for install (same as above, browser links: ie Rogers has Yahoo IM due to their @Home highspeed email partnership, this ties into that; while MSN is available its not sent to their users by default. Also not if you're on a BES plan this may also be pushed to your device - depending on BES restrictions). These ALL can be easily deleted in Options> Advanced Options> Applications. However there is ANOTHER file - not vendor.xml (device.xml??) where you can set the specific vendor (AT&T, O2, Rogers, Orange, etc as the default skin, etc to load). The BB.alx I'm not sure of. But you're right that the underlying code is the same. I'm not sure exactly how, but the startup & shutdown screens can also be changed.

Hi all,

I already posted in the Bold thread a link to a Video of the Orange Bold and the fact it appears to be just a small Orange Logo at the bottom of the front of the Bold. I also spoke to VodaFone toady and they have it scheduled for release 3rd September. I don't know why but i keep wanting to call it the BB Star Trek as it will Boldly go where no BB has gone before.

Marc
